Abstract The abstract should summarize the content of the paper in approximately 150 to 200 words. The MAMM-2016 conference aims to provide a special opportunity for scientists to ex-change their know-how and build up collaboration in the mechanism science field and its appli-cations. Each paper will be thoroughly reviewed by the Scientific Committee and accepted pa -pers will be published in a book of MMS Series edited by Springer. Therefore, the format of your paper is defined in this MS Word template which contains the prescribed styles necessary to be published by Springer. The manuscript should comprise of minimum 8 up to maximum 12 pages with an even page number. 1 Introduction

A manuscript with more than 12 pages will not be accepted and an even number of pages is mandatory. The paper should contain an abstract, an introduction, a main text (with approach, results and discussion), conclusions, and references.

The font used in this template is Times. Please, do not use other similar fonts. The title of the paper should be written in 16 pt, bold, left alignment (title style). Please use author style and affiliation style for automatic formatting of authors’ names (10 pt, bold, left alignment) and their affiliation (8.5 pt, left alignment). The abstract is written in 8.5 pt, justified (abstract style).

Section titles must be numbered and require 14 pt, bold, left alignment (subtitle style). Subsection titles should be written in 14 pt, bold italic, left alignment (sub-subtitle style). The following standard numbering is prescribed: 1, 2, 2.1, 2.2 etc. Instead of simply listing headings of different levels sequentially, we recommend to let every heading follow by at least a short passage of text. Several examples of typical equation, figure, table, citations and references follow.

Please do not change the proposed format by introducing other styles or by changing this template and consider that after the submission of your manuscript it will be typeset by Springer again to provide camera ready material.

2 Formal style

Please use the following instructions regarding the formal style of your paper.

2.1 Paragraphs and indents

Please note that the first line of a paragraph text that follows a heading is not in-dented (standard without indentation of first line style).

But the first lines of all subsequent paragraphs are indented (standard style). Normal text is written in 10 pt, justified. Spacing is 12 pt and hyphenation is used.

2.2 Lists

Lists can have one or two levels:

main items, which are indicated by a bullet point, subitems, which are indicated by a dash.

1. For numbered lists please use the numbered item style.

2.3 Abbreviations, numbers, and units

Abbreviations are spelled out the first time used with the abbreviation in parenthe-sis. If used in connection with numbers, units are abbreviated.

Digits are used for all numbers larger than ten. When a number is used with a unit, the numeral is used and the unit is abbreviated. Comas are used to separate thousands and decimal point is used to separate decimals.

2.4 Equations

The equation style bases on normal style. However, single space is recommend-able. Equations should be centered and numbered with the number to the right of

the equation (equation style). Within equations, numbers, punctuations, parenthe-ses, units or mathematical signs are set upright while variables are set in italics, and vectors are set in bold. Fig. 1 presents the styles and sizes for equations. If the equation is part of a sentence, punctuation follows normal language rules.

Text references to equations take the form “Eq. 1” or within round parentheses, for instance (1). An example of an equation is as follows:

3 Figures

Figures should be aligned centered and must be referenced consistently in text, for example Fig. 2. The font size in figures should be well readable.

Fig. 2 Coupler-point curve of a four-bar linkage (Volmer 1992)

Captions are placed below the figure, written in 8.5 pt, using caption style. Fig-ure captions begin with the term “Fig.” in bold type, followed by the figure num-ber, also in bold. Previously published material is identified by a reference to the original source at the end of the caption. Figure captions have no end punctuation and no period after the figure number.

Referencing to a figure in the text, Fig. 2, is possible by using automatically numbered cross-references (under reference -> cross-reference -> select reference type=”Fig.”, “only category and number”, and figure). If the reference type “Fig.” does not exist already it must be first defined (under reference -> insert caption -> new identifier/name -> specify ”Fig.”).

The maximum figure size width is 119 mm. Color figures will be printed col-ored in the book too. Please take care for a sufficient resolution as follows:

Graphics and diagrams should be saved as EPS files with the fonts embedded and a minimum resolution of 300 dpi. Scanned graphics in TIFF format should have a minimum resolution of 1200 dpi.

Photos or drawings with fine shading should be saved as TIFF with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.

A combination of halftone and line art (e.g., photos containing line drawings or extensive lettering, color diagrams, etc.) should be saved as TIFF with a mini-mum resolution of 600 dpi.

4 Tables

Tables should be aligned centered and referenced in the text, for example Table 1. The font size in tables should be table styled (8.5 pt).

Table captions are placed above the table (caption style, 8.5 pt). Captions begin with the term “Table” in bold type, followed by the table number, also in bold type. Previously published material is identified by a reference to the original source at the end of the caption. Table captions have no end punctuation after the table number. Table rules are created automatically by the typesetting program of Springer. Manually inserted rules or shading of table rows and table cells cannot be retained.

5 Referencing

For citing literature in the text or in figure and table captions please follow the “Harvard system” and use the last name of the author and the year of publication within parenthesis, e.g. (Zentner 2014).

Multiple references are separated by a semicolon, e.g. (Linß 2015; Linß et al. 2015; Volmer 1992; Zentner et al. 2009). For one author please specify one name, in the case of two authors use both author names combined with the term “and”, and for three or more authors use only the first author followed by “et al.”.

The references list at the end of the paper (references style, 8.5 pt) should be in an alphabetical order, while the references are not numbered. The rules for alpha-betization are:

First, all works by the author alone, ordered chronologically by year of publica-tion.

Next, all works by the author with a coauthor, ordered alphabetically by coau-thor.

Finally, all works by the author with several coauthors, ordered chronologically by year of publication.

For the citation style of a dissertation, contribution in conference proceedings, online document, book, or journal article please refer to the examples in the refer-ences list below.
