AIMS AND OUTCOMES The aim of this lecture is to introduce future mechanical engineers and environmental engineers, with nature of hazardous materials, as well as some safety measures during the handling process with them. Special attention in the lecture is devoted to the method and technique of marking different types of hazardous materials, as well as proposal warning labels for laboratories, warehouses, manufacturing plants and all the spaces where the employees handling with these materials. Also, students will become familiar with potential hazards that participants in those technological processes and environment are exposed, how to protect themselves, reduce the level of risk at work and maintain it on the acceptable level.

SAFETY IN TRANSPORT OF DANGEROUS MATERIALS IN ROAD TRAFFIC

AIMS AND OUTCOMES The goal of the lecture is to teach students that application of regulations related to packaging, handling and transport vehicles for hazardous materials, reduces danger to human lives and the environment which indirectly affects the people, to the minimum. The regulations also apply to workers involved in the transport system. The responsibility of participants in the transport is emphasized, and the perspectives of development in order to improve the safety status in this field are presented.

AIMS AND OUTCOMES Today, with the growing demands of the modern society, conventional material processing becomes very difficult and often impossible. Hence, in parallel with the development of new materials, new processing methods are being developed and introduced, being much more progressive, productive and economic. One of these methods is laser processing, which belongs to the group of non-conventional processing methods. This lecture will give a short review of suitable safety measures when working with laser devices in metal processing industry, in order to familiarise students with the safety issues, preventive actions and contol of risk level.

SAFETY DURING MATERIALS TESTING IN LABORATORY

AIMS AND OUTCOMES The aim of the lecture is to introduce students to the rules of conduct in the laboratory for materials testing and safety measures in the investigation of certain material properties. This article describes the kind of danger that may arise during the testing of toughness in Charpy pendulum, universal tensile testing machine and during hardness testing. Article also provide measures to be applied in order to avoid danger to health or safety of students during their stay in this kind of laboratory.

AIMS AND OUTCOMES The main objective of this paper is to give students a basic understanding of security aspects that need to take care when working on their computers. The paper gives basic recommendations for proper installation and commissioning of computers to work, choice of appropriate equipment and furniture, proper posture when you work, work habits when working with computers and the necessary measures to be taken to ensure a smooth and safe operation on your computer. In addition, the paper presents the main recommendations to be taken so that the negative effects of computers to the health be down to a minimal level.

VIBRATIONS - PHYSICAL HARMFULNESS OF WORK

AIMS AND OUTCOMES Vibration is usually undesirable phenomenon in the mechanical process, which is harmful not only to the original machine but also on the body of workers. The harmful effect of vibration depends on its dynamic and kinetic characteristics (amplitude, frequency, velocity, acceleration and direction of propagation in relation to the body axis). Perennial exposure to vibration leads to pathological and anatomical changes and functional disorders that are manifested as a vibration disease. The aim is to highlight the importance and influence of vibrations, as one of the physical hazards of working environment, to point to the possibility of its reduction and therefore to be protected from its harmful effects.

ELECTROMAGNETIC RADIATION BASE STATIONS OF MOBILE TELEPHONY

AIMS AND OUTCOMES The main goal of this lecture is to introduce students of communication technologu with problems of electromagnetic radiation with particular emphasis on the radiation produced by mobile telephony base stations. This paper provides data from the legislations on the level of electromagnetic radiation which is allowed, and also presents the working principles of these base stations. What is more, this paper indicates the problem of unacceptable levels of radiation. A method for solving this problem is presented as well as comparison of the levels of radiation which are allowed by the law in Serbia and in Europe.

Therefore it is necessary to introduce future mechanical engineers, who will meet, through various projects, construction and technological processes this energy source, with the hazards that the participants in those technological processes and the environment are exposed, as well as measures to reduce the risk level and maintained at an acceptable level.

Achieving these goals is a big job that requires taking certain measures and activities for the purpose, on the one hand, the reduction of side effects, such as occupational injuries, occupational diseases and diseases related to work, on the other hand, the protection of life and health employees and other persons who are entitled to. AIMS AND OUTCOMES While trying to organize a modern handling of loads, without the use of manual work, the data show that the percentage of workers who lift, carry or move heavy loads, still very large. Manual handling is an activity that often involves strenuous tasks, or those involving awkward postures and movements, and the risk of injury especially pronounced. This paper will provide a risk assessment of manual handling segment, which is the lifting and carrying loads.

Having in mind that electrical current is a common part of our lives, it must be analyzed through the global scope of sustainability, development, economics and usual daily activities. Exposure to the electrical current is a major health hazard to humans at various places such as, at workplace, at home, in the sport’s centre and so on. Potential dangers require a number of preventive measures to be employed. The desired effect of these measures is achieved through the application of contemporary technical, educational, social, organiza-tional and other measures and resources.

AIMS AND OUTCOMES The aim of this lecture is to introduce students with the materials used in construction, in terms of fire resistance in accordance with the law on fire protection regulations related to the choice of materials, as well as recommendations for the environmentally and safe construction as residential and industrial facilities. In this lecture in a course in Construction and the Environment provides an overview of materials, their characteristics, behavior during combustion and the proper selection of materials in accordance with the risk of fire propagation.
