Owned by Riverside for nearly 100 years

Operated as a landfill until 1985

Public Works reviewed recreational uses

Site makes recreational use difficult

Ideal site for Photovoltaic (PV) project

Landfill cap is “peaked” like a house roof

Total of 120 acres

60 - 80 acres slopes/visible to homes on bluffs

40 acres slopes towards Santa Ana River

40 acres can support 5 - 10 MW

Enough power for 1,500 – 5,000 homes

Total build out – 20 MW

RFP – Power Purchase Agreement

No project commitment by RPU at this point

No impact to landfill cap or other departments

Summary Recommendation

Board recommend City Council:

Issue an RFP for a PV project

at the Tequsquite Landfill

within 90 days and determine if

PPA is cost effective based

upon kWh costs for other

renewable resources.
