Dear Parents/Carers
I would like to congratulate the P & C fundraising commi-ee and all
of the parents/carers who helped make the bookfair such an out-
standing success. A par0cular hit was the chance to be king or queen
of the castle and mee0ng Clifford the dog. Congratula0ons to our
colouring compe00on winners who won a book prize to the value of
$15. Thankyou also to the staff who read to students at lunch0me.
Our front entrance statement has started with founda0on for
foo0ngs being poured last week for the wall and new le-er box.
The front entrance statement is part of the new perimeter fence.
The garrison fencing is currently being installed across the front of
the library end of the school. The rest of the fence will be a chain
mesh design.
Awesome Art have again selected Bungaree PS to par0cipate in a
week long art ac0vity. This will start next Monday 8th June. Selected
students from Year 4-6 will be invited to par0cipate in a crea0ve
group challenge based on the theme “This is where I am”. Invita-
0ons will be sent home today.
This aernoon/evening from 5-7:30pm there will be a masquerade
disco in the old under cover area at Bungaree PS. Entry cost is $5.
Students from Kindy to Year 6 are invited. Proceeds go towards the
Year 6 camp. Please note students must go home in the care of an
adult.
We had a number of visitors to the school as part of our professional
development in explicit teaching. All of our visitors were very im-
pressed with the student behaviour in par0cular as they visited

Choir Excursion to Rockingham Senior High School
Well done to all of our choir students who sang at Rockingham
Senior High School on Wednesday 3rd June. The choir once
again did an outstanding job representing Bungaree PS and
demonstrating the depth of musical talent we have.
P&C UP DATE
Through numerous meetings with the P&C and the school, it has been decided that the canteen will not be opening in the near
future.
Reasons for the decision, relate to the canteen not being viable enough to employ a paid Canteen Manager. With the school
now not having Year Seven students, it impacts even more on the sales at the end of the day. In the past the volunteers have
had to be accountable for stock control, money handling, and insurance and training. This places an unfair responsibility on
their shoulders.
We are currently in talks with a Subway franchise hoping to organise lunches 1 to 2 days a week. Failing this we will be look-
ing at other alternatives.
Any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to talk to a P&C member.

Hello everyone! My name is Chris Pickering. I am
studying to become a Primary School Teacher and I
am in my fourth and final year at Murdoch University.
Recently I had the pleasure of comple0ng my second
last prac0cal in Room 7 with Mrs Wilson, and I loved
it! Firstly a big hello to all the students in Room 7, I
hope you are all well and enjoying your learning
journey!
Bungaree Primary School holds many fond memories
for me. I arrived in Western Australia in 1972 from
the United Kingdom and a-ended the school be-
tween 1972 and 1976. I had some fabulous teachers
who I s0ll fondly remember. The connec0on between
teacher and student is one that can never be underes-
0mated and it is for this reason that I have chosen to
go into teaching. It was fantas0c to be able to witness
the Bungaree teachers offering the same enthusiasm
and skill and another genera0on of Bungaree stu-
dents smiling and enjoying it!
Thank you for having me back Bungaree! I hope our
paths cross again.
Mr. Pickering.

Room 6 Assembly
On Tuesday we performed “Possum
Goes to School” in front of the whole
school for our assembly item.
We all talked at the microphone. As a
class we changed the original story by
Melanie Carter and made it about our
school.
We chose to have teachers Room 6
students see or work with in our story.
We felt happy during our assembly item. We were nervous
reading our pieces in front of the whole school.
It was fun and we felt proud when it was finished.
The Wildlife Oz Incursion.
We went to the Kindy on Tuesday to see the Wildlife Oz incursion.
First we met the koala named Dexter, it was sleeping in a gumtree. He was asleep
because he only eats Eucalyptus leaves and they do not give him much energy. Next
we met a dingo. We got to pat it and he has sharp teeth and claws. He was very
friendly as he has been raised in cap0vity. There were 2 snakes and a lizard. We got
to touch the lizard, and the snakes were draped around our neck. They felt cold and
0ckly. Honey was a big python and Rosie was a S0mson python.
In the end we were given a li-le toy koala. We felt happy and amazed as we had
learnt about the animals.
We had characters in the story, a possum and
teachers from our school. There was Ms Linkston,
Mrs Tsorvas, Mrs Spatcher, Mrs Schicker and Mr G,
Miss Westbrook, Mrs Kinninment, Miss Brokken,
and Mrs Hollingsworth. The teachers were all
frightened by the possum and the kids were
excited.
