Parking off site Thank you to everyone who is parking correctly. Our surrounding streets (especially Fredericks Lane) are narrow so it is best to park on the side nearest the school. We still have some parents parking on the grass area- this is private property and our neighbours have asked we remind you not to park here. Cars should be on Fredericks Lane only, not on the private driveway. From this week, you will notice a SHUT THE GATE sign on the pedestrian gate. We are not locking the gate but hopefully this will slow down our little ones who are running ahead of parents. If you park in Fredericks Lane, please get out of your car to collect your children. If you don’t wish to leave your car (especially on days like today) use the pickup line at the front of the school.

Social Media –Stage 3 Many of our stage 3 students have a social media profile. They tell us that parents have access to what they post. There have been some rather nasty things ‘said’ to other children via social media, texting, messenger or talking on a phone. Some can’t be screen captured so it’s harder to determine what is communicated. While this should be a family issue, certain behaviours and issues have been brought into the school. We have invited the Local Police Liaison officer to visit the school on Tuesday 23rd July to talk to stage 3 students. He will return on Monday 29th July to talk to parents. We encourage parents to attend this 2.30pm meeting, whether or not you have children in Years 5&6. From the e-safety commissioner: https://esafety.gov.au/ What does cyberbullying look like? Cyberbullying can occur in many ways, including: •abusive texts and emails •hurtful messages, images or videos •imitating others online •excluding others online •humiliating others online •nasty online gossip and chat.

I am being cyberbullied—how do I stop it? •talk to someone you trust straight away—like a parent, sibling, uncle/aunt, teacher or friend, or contact Kids Helpline •don’t retaliate or respond—they might use it against you •block the bully and change your privacy settings •report the abuse to the service and get others to as well •collect the evidence—keep mobile phone messages, take screen shots and print emails or social networking conversations •do something you enjoy—catch-up with friends, listen to good music, watch a good show or chat online to people you can trust •remember you didn’t ask for this—nobody deserves to be bullied and you will get through this.

Before and after school care We were hoping that everything would be finalised so we could start Vacation Care for these holidays. Unfortunately, the service provider is still awaiting information from the State Government. In the interim, they may have some vacancies at other Vacation Care venues. Please access information at their website: http://rainbow.nsw.edu.au/ If you are interested in the before and after school care here, you might like to contact the provider and seek information as to when you can put your child/ren name down. Please use above website for contact details.

School Uniform We have had a number of inquires from parents of what children can wear as it gets colder. The picture in the next column shows what girls and boys can wear as part of our school uniform. Children can wear longer pants (navy) or track pants over their shorts (navy or royal blue). All children can wear long sleeve t-shirts under their uniform (red, white, royal blue or navy only) and girls can wear navy stockings/tights under their culottes. The School Locker may not have long pants for sale. They were not high selling items when the uniforms were

sold through the school, and were cheaper for parents to buy at Target or Big W. We suggest you have navy socks for your children. They are much easier to clean than white socks. A reminder also that school shoes should be predominantly BLACK, with black laces. Please remember to write your child’s name on all clothing items.
