The one thing that stands out for me on my return is the friendliness and politeness of our students (your children!) This is what makes getting back in to routines worthwhile! Some of the other ways to make school a good place to be include these three words - Communication, Consistency, Connectedness: At this time of the school year, student learning can take a back seat for some, but not for our teachers at Ngatimoti School! To help our children to aspire to do their best and to reach for their goals, teachers and parents need to continue to work together on these three words! Communication – talk with your children about their reading books, or how they tackle maths challenges. Ask what you can do to help or support! If you have any concerns, make a time to come in and talk to a class teacher. Consistency – those basic habits such as wearing clean clothes, using manners, coming to school on time etc. all set your children up for their futures! It is up to us as the adults to keep these expectations high! (I know as a parent that this is not always easy, but it is important!) Connectedness – joining in, being a part of what is happening at school and groups outside of school has been proven to be hugely beneficial for mental well-being. It is great to see so many parents supporting this and helping at Festival, driving to after school sports etc. Well done to those students who are participating in a variety of opportunities! Thank you to all parents who make these opportunities possible. We all want your children to succeed so that they have lots of choices available to them as they grow up!
