SCHOOL INVOICES
Please note an ―Activity Fee‖ will be applied on all upcoming invoices. It is being charged at $15 per pupil
with discounted rates of $10 and $5 for each subsequent sibling. This covers administration costs,
sports uniforms maintenance and any costs associated with educational trips. If you have any queries or
concerns about this please contact Sean.
School invoices will be sent home at the beginning of week 10. If your child is away it will be posted.
Also a reminder to those families using the Flaxmere bus service, school procedure requires users to set up regular Automatic Payments to
cover bus use ($1.30/child per day). Please phone the office if you need account information or have
any queries. If payments are not arranged in a timely manner, you risk losing the use of this
service.

CLUSTER ATHLETICS
Our annual cluster school Athletics is to be held
TOMORROW: Thursday 26th November at the
Hastings Sports ground on Percival Road. All children
are expected to participate. Please arrive by 9am.
Remember there will be NO SCHOOL BUS—you are
required to arrange transport for your children to and
from the event.
If you are having problems or need some assistance,
phone the office: 874 3830.
Children need to arrive in their sports t-shirt (which
will come home with them today), and either blue or
black (preferably blue) comfortable running shorts (as
our school sports shorts are limited) we encourage
juniors (year 0-2) to just wear their school shorts if
you don’t have any other blue shorts. They will need
their school jersey if the weather is poor. Please
provide children with food and drink.
In the event of bad weather, there will be NO
Athletics! If it is in fact cancelled (notified via our
school app: Tiqbiz or the class blogs), a normal school
day will resume and bus services will run as usual.

SCHOOL APP—TIQBIZ
If you haven’t already done so, we strongly encourage
you to load the school’s app ’Tiqbiz’ onto your phone. It
is a great way to keep informed with all that is going on
in the life of the school, whether it be sports draws,
assembly reminders or just helpful updates from the
staff but especially at this time of year with all the
events, camps and extra assemblies that take place, it’s
helpful to have as many school families using it as
possible. Thanks to all of those parents currently using
the app.
SPORTS ASSEMBLY
We had our sports assembly yesterday and what
amazed me was the amount of children that represent
the Hawkes Bay regions in a wide range of sports—it’s
great to see!
Thanks again to all our coaches who helped with sport
this year, we couldn’t have done it without you!
Sunburnt in Wellington! Last week the seniors and a number of parents took a week to enjoy all that Wellington could offer. From climbing trees in Porirua to watching protestors get arrested outside of the
ASB Arena didn’t disappoint. We all had a blast and have lots to share with the rest of the community during assemblies etc. Thanks to all the parents who came and helped out during the week. For 4 out of the
5 days we got so much sun we needed to buy sunblock!
Oreka & Matapiro Camp Both of these camps are planned to go ahead next Thursday and Friday. Thanks to the many parents who have volunteered to come and enjoy time ―outdoors‖ with the children. Due to
tighter restrictions and the new Children’s Act of 2014 all schools are required to vet any and all parent help in situations like these. Thank you to those who have sent in their details, the information that comes
back is kept confidential and if there are any problems I will talk to you.
2016 Classroom Placements Just to clarify, in previous newsletters we have asked you to talk to your classroom teachers about next year. As yet, as a staff we are still looking at student placements according to different needs etc. It can be like putting a giant puzzle together, but all staff use their professional
judgement’s to make decisions that best suit your children. Thanks—Sean Moore.

RURAL RECYCLING UPDATE—
PUKEHĀMOAMOA In June 2014 Hastings District Council approved
the Rural Recycling Initiative to be rolled out
across the district. Pukehāmoamoa School is the
trial location for the Taihape Road area. One Green
Recycling Bin will be placed on the Council owned
land on the corner of Taihape and Matapiro Road
the week commencing 24 November 2015.
This bin will collect all household recycling; paper,
cardboard, plastic, cans and colour sorted glass. A
large sign at the site explains what can be
recycled. The Green Bins are converted 20 foot
shipping containers that have been adapted to
collect household recycling in separate
compartments and transport the materials direct
to the recycling facilities. A concrete pad has be
laid at the site for the Green Bin to be placed on
and steps installed for users to access the bin and
safely deposit their materials.
It is envisaged that the green bin will require
emptying every 4 weeks. If you notice any
undesirable activities please notify Hastings
District Council on 06 871 5000 as soon as possible.
