Santa’s Little Helpers Year 2 students have taken on the job as Santa’s Little Helpers. Every year there are so many Christmas cards being given out to friends in Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 that Santa’s helpers make it their job to deliver these cards across Stage 1. Year 2 students take turns to be Santa’s postman, ensuring all cards are delivered at the end of each day. Gold Day Gold Day will be held on Monday, 16th December. To celebrate the wonderful behaviour of our Gold students, there will be a fantastic day at the swimming pool including a session on the water slide. Stage 1 ( Kinder, Year 1 and Year 2) will be spending the morning at the pool from 9:15 – 11:00 am Stage 2 ( Years 3 & 4) 11:30 – 1:00 pm Stage 3 ( Years 5 & 6) 1:30 – 3:00 pm Students will need to bring their swimmers, sunscreen, rash shirt and towel in a plastic bag so that children can change into their swimmers at the pool. If they wear their swimmers under their clothes, they will need to have dry clothes to change into for the remainder of the day. The pool canteen will be available on the day. More information will be sent home before the day.

2013 End of Year Class Parties Gold Day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the end of a fantastic year with friends made in the classroom and across the grades. Classes will be organising their class parties to be held next Monday as part of Gold Day. Children will be asked to bring along a plate of party food to share with friends and their classmates. Individual class teachers will provide a note home to parents on the organisation for the day.

Diamond Awards Yesterday 64 students from Years 2-6 were presented with their Diamond Awards. Thanks to the families who were able to join us and congratulations to all our Diamond Award students. I would especially like to thank Mrs Hillery and her canteen crew for providing the luncheon that followed the assembly.

Out And About At Macksville Public School

Proud to be a part of the Family School

It’s raining cats and dogs, well just as long as it doesn’t reindeer!

Eat a Rainbow!

Crunch & Sip has been very popular in our school, with students keenly awaiting their break to eat fruit and vegetables each day. But did you know that different varieties and colours of fruit and vegetables provide different nutrients that help children to grow well and be healthy? For example a red fruit or vegetable (such as a strawberry or tomato) has different vitamins to a white fruit or vegetable (like a banana or parsnip). This is why it is a good idea to encourage your children to “eat a rainbow”. Why not change the type of fruit or vegetables you are sending for Crunch & Sip every few days or week? Children love crisp, colourful vegies and sweet, juicy fruit, and changing the variety makes sure they don’t get bored with the same choice over and over. Mix up the colours for every week!

MPS Swimming Stars

Last weekend three of our MPS Super Fish competed at the North Coast Swimming Championships in Coffs Harbour. Saule, Feja and Ebony all competed in events over both days, representing the Macksville Marlins Swimming Club. The girls were competing against teams from as far afield as the Queensland border and Foster. All three girls swam exceptionally well, shedding seconds off their best times. Congratulations girls, we’re all so proud of the huge effort you put in.
