Whatagreatpluginandtemplate,ithasnotonlybeengreatforimporting test cases, but has really helped me to get startedunderstandingTestLinkaswell.

One defect I have found is that if the data in an Excel cellcontainsquotes("")thenthescriptwillnotcreateavalidfile.

Looking forward to theenhancement thatwill allowmultiplekeywords, they are a large component of our TestLinkimplementation.

Wehavenotenabledthetreeviewforrequirements.So,Idon'tthinkIcanworkonthisfornow.

@Ken,



Thefileswillbecreatedifyourcellshavedoublequotes.Butifthe double quotes are special characters that look like openquotesandclosequotes(slantingtowardsoneside)unlikethestraightlookingdoublequotes,avalidfilewon'tbecreated.So,please replace those double quotes with ordinary ones using'Replace All' twice (one for open quotes and one for closequotes).Hopeiamnotconfusing!!!!

Hi,Ihaveadifferentproblemregardingrequirements import:OurrequirementsweresuccessfullyimportedandshowcorrectUmlauts, however if we SEARCH requirements (by scope) itwon'tfindanythingwithanUmlautunlesswe"escape"themtohtmlentities in the search entry field, e.g. instead of"bersetzung"wiemusttype"bersetzung"...anytrickheretohavetestlinkdothisforusautomatically?

Lookslikeyoudon'thaveanyrequirementstoimportfromtheexcelsheet,butstillhavetherequirementscolumnintheexcel.You need to read and understand the steps without blindlyfollowingthem.

And that iscausingconfusionamongpeople.Fewthingsworkingforsomepeople&fewnot.If you could write a general comment from architectperspective,itwouldhelpall.By architect perspective I mean, how testlink behavesdifferently in case of 1.8.x& 1.9.x at the same time forExcel2003,2007&2010.

I amonly sharingmywork so itwill behelpful tosomepeople.Then,itisuptoyoutounderstandwhatitisdoing(IhaveprovidedasmuchcommentsIcaninthemacro).

ThismacrowillworkonlyforTestlinkversion1.8.x.For version 1.9.x you need tomodify themacro asthe XML has changed because of Testlink DBchange in 1.9.x. You can read through thecomments for some guidance on modifying themacro,asIdon'thaveaccesstoTestlink1.9.xrightnow.Sorryfornotbeingtoabletohelp.

Ihaveissuesinimportingthedataofthecustomfields.

IamusingTestLinkversion1.9.3.Ihavetwocustomfieldsinmyexcel.Whileimporting,Iseenoerrormessagethrowingoutin Test Link. But when I look into the .xml file, I see thatinstead of reading one cell of the custom field, the wholecomplete columns are read and then it is moved to the nextcustomfielddatafirstrow.Fromthereitreadsagainthewholecolumnsofthesecondcustomfielddata.

Iwantthecustomfielddatatobereadbypertestcase.Butthisisnothappening.IamnewtoTestLinkandtotheVBscript.Couldanybodypleasehelpmeoutonthis?

Hello guys! i'mkindanew to testlink, i alreadyknowhow toimport the test cases and test requirements using the macrothat gowri made. i modified some of the codes to add somecustomfieldsintestrequirementswhichincludethestatusandtype. We have a column for the execution type for each step andanother column called "Automated Test ID" for all the stepsthatthatareautomatedcorrespondingtotheindividualsteps.Iunderstandthatinthemacro,theexecutiontypeishardcodedtomanual.CanyoupleaseprovidesomeinsightonhowIcanmake it work for the columns I discussed? I'm not veryadvancedwithmacrocoding.

The name of the field as saved in myprojectis"LabelTestCaseID"butithasabunchofwhite spaces after itmaking64 characters long as"LabelTestCaseID".WhenItriedtoimportitwiththewhitespaces,thewhitespacesgotremovedaftertheimportforsomereason.IfIopenmy.xmlfileinthe browser, I see the white spaces. After I try toimportthefile, thewhitespacesaregoneandIgetanerrorsayingthenamedoesn'tmatch.

Example:TestSuiteArea1.0TestSubSuiteArea1.1TestSection1.1.1followedbytestcasesTC1TC2TC3

Ifigure if thetooldoesnotsupport thisoptionImayhaveanimport area in Test Link then move the test cases to theappropriatetestsectioncreatedmanually.

Charles,thanksforthepositiveremarks.:)ThetooldoesnotsupportmultiplelayersofTestSuites.Youcanuse different subtest suites and once you have imported thexml, move them manually to the correct suite. Support formultiplelayersisnotintheroadmapeither.

IhavebeenusingTestlink1.9.7anditappearsIcanimportatthelowerlevelsuites.TheonlythingIfoundisIdontneedtocreatetheLastSubsuitenameExample"1.1.1"Becauseifthatisthenameofyoursuiteinthetoolthenitwillcreatethatsuitenamebelowthelevelyouimport.

So I justmoved them but I suspect that I could have just nocreated the last suitename (1.1.1)byhandand let the importprocesscreateitforme.

I think it is possible to change the name of theStatus field inTestlink(inenGBIguess).ButIamnotsureiftheoriginalposterhasdonethisalready!And, import still can work as it will still populateunder status tag as the XML tags itself arehardcoded in the macro. We just need to includeCase"TestMethod"alongwithCase"Status"

YeahwewereconsideringmodifyingthePHPcodetochangethe field in TestLink also. But I understand itmay affect theimport process. I will do some testing and see if we shouldleaveitsettoStatusbutifwecanmodifythefieldtoallowforadifferent set of fixed values that can be imported. Such as"Inspection" or "Analysis". All of our requirements areconsidered "Implemented" already since our requirements areprovidedtousbyourclient.

IfwecanjustchangethetitleofthefieldinTestLinkandleavethenodesetto"Status"forXMLbutallowforadifferentsetofdatavaluesIthinkweshouldbegood.

HiCharles,Youshouldbeabletosetdefaultlanguageintestlinkin config.inc.php. The parameter to set is $g_default_language.Theoriginal importwillworkfine even if you change the name of the field inlocale.

I think you have to increase the test case name inconfig file as well. Don't remember the exactvariablename.But,shouldbeeasyenoughtofigureout, ifyoutakea look.Mightalsoneedto increasethelengthofthedatabasecolumn.
