The bowlers bowled only 4 wide deliveries and conceded just 15 runs extras in the entire inning but failed to maintain good length as Jitender in his 113 runs hit 15 boundaries and cleared the fence 3 times for six. The fielding was not up to mark and few chances were floored that enabled the batsmen to score freely. Ranjit was the only bowler to pick 2 wkts as rest of the bowler proved expensive. NDTV started on a positive note as Deepak 11 runs & Ranjit 7 runs had a decent start to contribute 20 runs for the 1st wkt. The 2nd wkt fell on 26 runs adding only 6 runs to the previous score but Ravi 28 who made most of the contribution for the 3rd wkt added 35 runs to take the score to 61 runs in 7.2 overs. The bowlers did manage to get wkts frequently but small contribution kept the scoreboard moving as another good partnership of 47 runs came from Mukul 25 runs & Suresh 22 runs took the score to 117 runs in 17.2 overs to keep the hopes alive for their side. This was not the end as Amit 25 runs along with Mukul 46 not out runs managed to save bonus point for their side. NIIT Vs Global Vantedge

NIIT won the toss and elected to bat first. The openers Ashish 22 runs & Abhishek 17 runs collected 45 runs for the opening stand. At this stage NIIT was in a comfortable position and seemed to carry on to post decent total but bowlers of Global Vantedge started picking wkts to the extent that the entire team was bundled out for 86 runs in 24.1 overs. This was mainly due to tight bowling by Mohit & Atul who took 3 and 2 wkts respectively giving away only 30 runs together. NIIT batsmen never looked comfortable against the spinners introduced by the skipper of Global Vantedge. This seemed to be bowler’s day as Global Vantedge who looked favorites to win the game lost 4 wkts for just 18 runs as Ashish Prasad removed the top order. Manan 22 runs was the only batsmen to keep the hope of his team alive as he was concentrating on singles to keep the score board moving. The batsmen of Global did not apply themselves and un-necessary panic button was pressed to ran themselves out. 13 runs were required off last 4 overs with 2 wkts in hand. Batsmen were supposed to just stay on the wicket but pressure caught hold of them as they got themselves out by taking un-necessary runs. They were all out at 77 with 3 overs remaining. The bowlers for NIIT bowled extremely well and were superbly supported by their fielders. This was more of Ashish Prasad Vs Global Vantage and as such he was declared Reebok Man of the Match.

4th Eventus Cricket Tournament 2004 Quarter-Final-2

Delphi Vs Hewlett Packard Delphi on winning the toss decided to bat first on AAI ground. The early loss of 1st wkt at 10 runs did not made them panic as Abraham 81 runs not out & Manish 77 runs set the turf on fire to build the massive partnership of 137 runs for the 2nd wkt and help their side to post huge total of 188 runs in 25 overs. Abraham in particular played a gem of an inning, collected his runs through singles & doubles, hammered the bowlers on the bad deliveries, stayed at the wkts till the end and also helped his partner Manish to put on a good score as he too played some wonderful shots and did not miss out on every opportunity to pick runs which were available in singles & doubles. Vivek was the only successful bowler to pick 2 wkts, as all other proved very expensive. HP while chasing lost 2 quick wkts but Brijesh 24 runs & Sunil 14 runs put on 43 runs partnership to reach 53 runs in 8.1 overs. Sandeep (32 runs) shared 2 vital partnerships of 21 runs for 4th wkt & 30 runs for 5th wkt with Vishal who made 20 runs to reach 109 runs in 18.2 overs. Amit kept the hope alive for HP as he made quick 30 runs in just 15 deliveries to contribute 43 runs for the 7th wkt and get close to the target. HP scored 152 runs in 22 overs requiring 36 runs off 3 overs. Amit along with Gaurav collected 11 runs in 23rd over to reach 163 runs but Amit who looked dangerous was bowled by Manish and HP was all out at 172 runs falling 16 runs short of the target. Manish was the most impressive of the bowler as he took 3 wkts and 2 each were taken by Atul, Amit & Vivek but 29 extra runs given away helped opponents come

close to target as they can be match deciding factor and Delphi needs to keep check on extras to make it to the finals. It was a difficult decision to choose the Man of the Match between Abraham (81 n.o.) and Manish (77 runs & 3 for 28) but Reebok Man of the Match was awarded to Abraham Joseph for his wonderful batting performance and carrying his bat through the inning. Age factor was also taken into consideration.

GE Capital Vs NIIT

GE on winning the toss elected to bat first on palam ground. NIIT did not make use of the wrong decision taken by GE to bat while the wicket had moisture. The ball was moving but their bowlers gave too many wides in the initial overs to let GE off the hook. After losing the 1st wkt early, Ajay (30) & Nitin (21) consolidated the inning to share partnership of 69 runs to reach 80 runs in 11.4 overs. Adding 13 runs more runs to the total GE lost 2 wkts and were 93 runs in 14.1 overs. Manmohan who made 39 runs played a patient knock to contribute 37 runs for the 5th wkt along with Sharat (17) to reach 130 runs at the end of 20th over. GE kept losing wkts at regular intervals but small partnerships helped them to post a total of 176 runs while 36 extra runs conceded by NIIT came in as bonus runs to put on decent target. Kapil was the most successful bowler to pick 4 wkts as rest all were very expensive and failed to make much impact in crucial match. NIIT while chasing the target started of well to put on 29 runs for the 1st wkt. Abhishek 41 runs & Prashant 36 runs kept the hope alive for their side as they were picking runs in single & doubles to push the score, adding 77 runs for the 2nd wkt to reach 106 runs in 17.1 overs. GE bowlers came back strongly to remove 4 quick wkts and apply break on flow of runs to restrict opponents to 158 runs in 25 overs to reach the Semi-Final. NIIT middle order batsman failed to sustain the pressure as at half way mark they were ahead of GE while they had lost just 1 wkt. Manmohan bowled very well to pick 3 wkts while Prakhar & Gaurav shared 1wkt each. The Reebok Man of the Match was awarded to Manmohan Gusain for his all round performance.

GE Capital 176 for 9 wkts in 25 overs Manmohan Gusain - 39 (35 Balls) (4 x 4) Ajay Shokeen - 30 (32 Balls) (4 x 4) (6 x 1) Nitin Ruhela - 21 (39 Balls) (4 x 2) Kapil Gupta - 5-0-33-4 Hemant Nayar - 5-0-22-1

4th Eventus Cricket Tournament 2004 Quarter-Final-4

Daksh Vs Reebok

Daksh on winning the toss elected to bat on palam ground and posted a massive total of 242 runs in 25 overs for no loss, both the openers Mayur Bora 117 not out & Mohit Vadhera 110 not out blazed the turf to create history in the corporate cricket. The batting was at its best as both of them ran hard between the wkts to pick single & doubles at will and played some sensational shot to every corner of the ground. They were simply unstoppable as they rotated the strike to support each other while executing shots with ease to get firm grip on the match. The huge total was piled due to some pathetic & poor fielding by their opponents as they gave away 80 runs due to miss fielding and so often singles were converted in doubles and doubles into 3 runs. Reebok while chasing the target made 39 runs for the loss of 2 wkts but 52 runs partnership came for the 3rd wkt as Dinesh 56 runs & Abhilash 15 took the sore to 91 runs 9.4 overs scoring nearly at the average of 10 runs per over. Once both these batsmen got out in the 11.2 overs the entire team fell like pack of cards in 13.4 overs to lose the match by 139 runs. Daksh marched into the Semi-Final with lot of confidence. The Reebok Man of the Match was difficult pick as both the openers played gem of an innings but Mohit Vadhera who later went on to pick 5 wkts conceding just 6 runs in 1.4 over made the task easy to take the award for his all round performance. Though between the two, Mayur Bora played a better knock.

Daksh 242 for no loss in 25 overs Mayur Bora - 117 Not Out (76 Balls) (4 x 14) (6 x 1) Mohit Vadhera - 110 Not Out (76 Balls) (4 x 12) (5 x 1)

Delphi Vs GE Capital

Delphi won the toss & invited GE Capital to bat first in their Semi-Final match played at palam ground. The openers made 15 runs and adding 13 runs to the total they lost 2nd wkt for 28 runs on the board. Prakhar 27 runs & Sharat 24 added 26 runs for the 4th wkt to push the score to 71 runs in 14.2 overs. Sharat later made some useful contribution for the 6th wkt to take the score to 95 runs in 17.4 overs. Delphi bowlers did wonderful job, as they never allowed any batsmen to settle down and picked wickets frequently to bowl out GE for modest total 121 runs in 25 overs. Manish was the pick of the bowlers taking 3 wkts while Amit & Abraham took 2 wkts each. Delphi collected 45 runs in 6.4 overs as Abraham 36 made most of the runs sharing partnership of 26 & 19 runs. Neeraj 10 runs & Amit 5 runs added 18 to the total to reach 63 runs in 12 overs. GE bowlers managed to pick 3 quick wkts for just 6 runs to come back strongly in the game but Amit 28 not out stood in their way to bring 2 vital partnership of 19 runs for the 5th wkt and 22 runs for the 8th wkt and register victory for their side to reach the finals of the tournament. Joginder 2 wkts & Raj 1 wkt bowled an economical spell to contain the batsmen as it was not the defending total but still GE fought brilliantly and made Delphi to struggle for each and every run. The Reebok Man of the Match went to Amit Sareen for his all round performance.

Daksh Vs HCL Technologies

HCL Tech. in the Semi-Final match played at palam ground elected to field on winning the toss. The opening pair Mayur 35 runs & Mohit 64 runs contributed 92 runs in 11.4 overs. Both the batsmen looked in good touch as they did not missed out single opportunity to smash a bad delivery and carried their innings in the similar fashion from were they left during their quarter final game. Mohit 34 runs pushed the score to 129 runs adding 22 runs for the 3rd wkt and 24 runs for the 4th wkt to reach 153 runs in 20.3 overs. Manish 14 not out & Vaibhav 11 runs helped Daksh put on 188 runs in 25 overs. HCL Tech. who early in the innings managed to keep check on the flow of runs due to some good fielding could not manage to continue the same rhythm. Amit who picked 3 wkts & Govind 2 wkts were only bowlers to finish with good figures as all other proved to be expensive. HCL Tech started off well to put on 25 runs in 5.2 overs was unfortunate to lose their strike batsmen Yogesh by direct throw. Samir 47 runs & Amit 27 runs had a partnership of 57 runs to reach 82 runs in 14.1 overs. They played sensibly, took minimum risk and collected runs by running hard between the wkts. After this pair got out HCL started losing wkts at regular intervals and most of them after reaching the double figure mark failed to carry the innings and make big score. Daksh bowlers did a fine job to restrict opponents to 162 in 24.1 overs as Mohit Kaushal, Puru & Mohit Vadhera bowled well to take 2 wkts each & ensure birth in the final. The Reebok Man of the Match was awarded to Mohit Vadhera for his wonderful performance.

4th Eventus Cricket Tournament 2004 Final

Daksh Vs Delphi Delphi won the toss in the final match played at palam-A and very rightly decided to field on a wicket, which had some moisture. The decision paid rich dividends as Daksh lost 3 quick wickets for 22 runs. Chandan who came in to bat with Mohit shared partnership of 47 runs to bring them back in match. Delphi bowlers hit back to remove dangerous looking Chandan and later at the score of 95 runs they managed to break the back bone of Daksh by dismissing Mohit at his individual score of 50 runs. Manish played sensibly to share 26 runs partnership with Vaibhav for the 7th wicket. Vaibhav who made 36 runs not out did most of the damage for Delphi as he smashed 26 runs in the last 2 overs to take the score to 160 runs to provide a defending total. Ashok Kr. bowled a good spell taking 3 wkts while Sunil took 2 wkts. Delphi started of well scoring 31 runs for the 1st wicket but Vaibhav continued his good work as he bowled brilliantly with the new ball to pick 2 wickets early in the innings.
