Weather Forecast for Next 24 hours
Weather System has a potential to produce heavy at times very heavy rainfall over northeast Punjab (Gujranwala, Lahore, Rawalpindi divisions), Kashmir and adjoining areas during next 24 - 36 hours, causing flood situation in Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Sutlej Rivers and their tributaries.

More Widespread Heavy to Very Heavy Rains/Thunderstorm Predicted in Northeast Punjab &
Kashmir during next 24-36 hours
Yesterday’s well marked Monsoon Low Pressure Area (MLPA) is now located over northwest Rajasthan (India)
and adjoining areas with its trough extending upto northeast Punjab. The chief amounts of rainfall recorded
during last 30 hours are as; Sialkot (cantt. 251,Airport 167), Rawalakot 194, Lahore (City 183 Airport 180),Kotli
168, Gujrat 163, Mangla 153, Kasur 135, Jhelum 115, Faisalabad 113, T T Singh 97, Okara 85 and Mandiba-
hauddin 70 mm.
This weather system still has a potential to produce heavy at times very heavy rainfall over northeast Punjab
(Gujranwala. Lahore, Rawalpindi divisions), Kashmir and adjoining areas during next 24-36 hours, causing
flood situation in the Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Sutlej Rivers and their tributaries.
Punjab Forecast: Widespread rain/thundershowers with isolated heavy at times very heavy falls are expected
in Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi divisions and Islamabad during next 24-36 hours. Heavy falls may generate
further flash/urban flooding in the vulnerable areas.
Scattered rain/thundershowers are also expected in rest of Punjab during the period.
Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Forecast: Widespread rain/thundershowers with isolated heavy at times very
heavy falls are expected in Kashmir during next 24-36 hours. Heavy intermittent rainfall may trigger further
flash flooding/landslides in the vulnerable areas of Kashmir.
Scattered rain/thundershowers are also expected in Gilgit-Baltistan during next 24 hours.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Forecast: Scattered rain/thundershowers are expected in upper parts of Khyber Pakh-
tunkhwa (Malakand, Hazara, Mardan, Kohat and Peshawar divisions) while at isolated places in Bannu and D.I.
Khan divisions during next 24-36 hours. Isolated heavy falls are also expected in Hazara & Malakand division
during the period.

Sindh Forecast: Rain/thundershowers are expected at scattered places in Sukkar and Mirpur Khas divisions
during next 24 hours.
Balochistan Forecast: Rain/thundershowers are expected at isolated places in Sibbi and Naseerabad divisions
on Thursday/Friday.

Media Updates Heavy Rain claims 52 lives in Punjab and Kashmir as of 4-9-2014
According to media reports, Fifty-two people were killed and over 90 others injured on Thursday 4th
Sep, as torrential rain wreaked havoc in north-eastern Punjab and Kashmir, causing a very high flood in river Chenab. Following table shows region-wise number of deaths detail;

Polio Updates as of 3-9-2014 No new wild poliovirus type 1 (WPV1) cases were reported in the past week. The most recent
case, which had onset of paralysis in Khyber Agency in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas
(FATA) on 30 July, was the 117th to be reported this year.
Two new circulating vaccine-derived poliovirus (cVDPV2) cases were reported in the past week.
One was in the Lakki Marwat district with onset of paralysis on 8 May and the other in Bannu dis-
trict, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on 3 May. The country has reported 18 cases of cVDPV2 in 2014 and
the most recent case had onset of paralysis on 27 May in FR Bannu, FATA.
Immunization activities are continuing with particular focus on known high-risk areas.
