THREE GENERATIONS OF SERVICE Ellis Mead, a Stafford farmer, enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1913. In the photo of the calvary unit, he’s to the far right. His son, David Mead, served with the 87th Artillery in Vietnam in 1968. He’s shown on the radio, taking orders of where to fire. David Mead’s daughter, Diane Mead Humerick, was sworn into the Air Force in 1990 after graduating from the University of Virginia. She served as a nurse for 20 years. Richard Golemboski U.S. Air Force, Tan Son Nhut Air Base in Vietnam, 1968. He served 20 years. James (Ron) Hill U.S. Army captain in Vietnam George McCracken U.S. Marines and active with the VFW and Department of Virginia Color Guard Layne Andrew Drash U.S. Navy photographer’s mate from 1957– 1961, then joined the U.S. Marines and served four years, including 14 months “in country” during Vietnam War. Lt. Col. Tyra White U.S. Army, retired after 30 years of service. Photo was taken during a deployment to Iraq. Sgt. Richard Eric Parker U.S. Army for 10 years. Wrkich U.S. Navy, on the USS Aylwin in 1974, off the coast of Puerto Rico. Master Sgt. Donna Kay Haddix U.S. Marines, served 25 years. Her husband, Tim, retired after 30 years as a master gunnery sergeant. Photo taken in 2013 at a field mess night at Camp Upshur, Marine Corps Base Quantico. Master Sgt. Ernestina M.
