BUSINESS REVIEW
May 2013 Editor: Rose Forrester
Thanks to Everyone for Making the Taste of Malden a Success!
Our fourth annual Taste of Malden was a huge success with
26 participating restaurants, bakeries, and suppliers and hundreds of attendees! With live music, wonderful chair massages provided by The Salter School, beer & wine, raffle items and fantastic food, this year’s Taste of Malden was truly an event not to be missed- all thanks to the volunteers, participants, and sponsors. The Chamber couldn’t have done it without you!
We’d like to thank the Malden YMCA for hosting the Taste of Malden and all our Gourmet Sponsors for helping us make this such a successful event!

Mayor Christenson & Chamber Bid Farewell
to Firmani the Tailor
After serving the Malden community for 48 years, the local alterations shop Firmani the Tailor closed at the end of April. After emigrating from Italy in the 1950’s, master tailor Luigi Firmani and his wife Norina established their shop in 1965. Now, 48 years later, the Firmanis are retiring.
“It is with fond memories that Firmani the Tailor will close on Saturday, April 27th, 2013. Proprietors, Luigi and Norina Firmani, would like to thank their many customers, the City of Malden, and fellow business owners for their support
throughout the years. They bid a fond farewell to all.” When asked by Police Chief Kevin Molis what their secret was to staying in business for so long, Luigi Firmani answered, “Quality. Never be satisfied with your own work
because you can always do better and produce better quality.”
Mayor Gary Christenson, President of the Chamber, Jack Urbaczewski,
and Councilor David D’ArcAngelo present the Firmanis with a
certificate of appreciation for their service to the Malden community
and wish them a happy retirement.
