Do you know where your
pledgecard is?
It's at the bottom of your "To Do" list, stuck in a drawer, left in the car, in a pants pocket or used as last minute scratch paper...it's your pledge card!
As of today, 83 pledge cards have been turned in for a total of $250,862. That means we need 217 more pledges to reach our goal, is yours one of them? No matter the amount, your pledge in support of FPC's ministry is important! If you did not pick up your packet in worship, you will soon receive it in your mailbox.
If you have questions about the church's min-istry, and how you can contribute, please visit www.fpcsalina.org/whats-happening/steward-ship, or contact Lead Pastor Jim Hawley at 825-0226, or [email protected]
Thanks again for your support of FPC!

Feasting on the Word Lectionary ClassThis class uses a lectionary based curriculum, designed to compliment each Sunday morning worship service. The classes, led by Tom Reid, will consider in greater depth the upcoming scripture reading for Sunday morning.
The class provides the contexts and settings of the week's scripture, how God's word comes to us in the passage, what the scripture means in relation to your life and how we can then live out that message as individuals and as a church. The class meets Wednesdays at 7:00 pm and re-peats Sundays at 9:00 am. Materials can be found online at www.fpcsalina.org/ministries/adult.
Coffee, Conversation & a ThoughtYou are invited to come and participate! It is a time of fellowship, prayer, community, and conversation, spurred by a brief pre-sentation, by Tom Reid. The “thought” or the presentation changes each Thursday, but not the good time, nor the good cof-fee, conversation, and fellowship.
Come join this fine group on the second Thursday of the month at 10:00 am, and the fourth Thursday of the month at 3:00 pm for an hour of coffee, conversation, and “a hought."
Men's Small Groups FPC's Men's Groups have begun! There are currently four groups which meet at differ-ent times throughout the month to offer a time when they can offer encouragement, a listening ear, honesty, confidentiality and commitment to one another. If you are interested in participating in a small group after the new year, please contact Tom Reid!
Wednesday WorshipThe Wednesday Worship service provides a much needed time of rest and worship in the midst of your busy week! It's an intimate service, with communion, singing, and a message, that is welcoming to the whole family and people of all ages.
Come join us for a meal in Blair Hall, then come to worship and see for yourself why Wednesday Worship here at FPC is a spe-cial time in the middle of your week!

Faith MattersThis class helps to remind us that faith does matter! It meets in the Conference Room Sunday mornings at 9:00 am, with a repeat offering on Tuesdays at noon, and explores a variety of subjects. Here's what's happening in October:
October 3: World Communion SundayHow do Presbyterians understand the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper? How does this understanding differ from other Chris-tian Traditions? Led by James Hawley
October 9: Domestic Violence AwarenessRepresentatives from DVACK will be on hand to present valu-able information as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Sun-day. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
October 16: The Dynamics of PrayerHow do Presbyterians pray? How might they pray? Why bother to pray at all? This class will discuss pray ancient and modern and how we might more effectively include prayer in our spiritual lives. Led by Amy Jo Hawley
October 23: Open ForumIs there a question you have always wanted to ask but there never seemed to be the right time? Now is the time. Come to Faith Matters with whatever questions you have and Jim Haw-ley would be glad to respond and lead the group in discovery.
October 30- Is "Reformed" a bad word? What does it mean to be Reformed? On this anniversary of Martin Luther's bold reformation initiative we will discuss what it means to be a "reformed" Christian in the 21st century Led by James Hawley

FPC and ELO (Equal Learning Opportunity)First Presbyterian Church members are vol-unteering at Salina Central High School as “Homework Helpers.” They help students - es-pecially those struggling in one or more classes - complete their homework assignments, study for tests and organize their thoughts for a speech or writing assignment.
With a new school year upon us there are dozens of students at Central High who need your help with their studies. If you would like to make a difference in students’ lives, and are able to work from 1:30 to 2:30 pm at least two days a month, call Bobbie Bengston at 827-2065 for more information. Training will be provided. Familiarity with specific subject mat-ter is welcome but not required.
Guatemalan Mission Trip Informational Meeting Sunday, Nov. 6th Get ready First Presbyterian Church! The Social Justice and Mission Committee is in the process of planning an international mission trip to Guatemala in 2012.

There will be an informational meeting to learn more about this trip on November 6th. If you are curious or have ques-tions please join us then or contact Austin Ashenbrenner, As-sociate Pastor of Youth and Mission.

Food Drive begins October 16This year our congregation will rally to support the people of Salina in need of food during the holiday season by collecting grocery items to donate to the Emergency Aid/Food Bank.
The Emergency Aid Food Bank will accept any dona-tion of food or personal care items. Items specifically requested are listed to the side. You may also find a printable version online at www.fpcsalina.org/mis-sion/near.
Please bring your items to the church no later than Wednesday, Nov. 17th, when Mid-High and Sr. High youth groups will load and deliver the donated grocer-ies to the food bank. They will also assist the Food Bank by sorting and shelving all of the donated items.

Gathering Time:While we want every kiddo to participate in Children’s Choir, we know some just don’t enjoy singing, and that’s ok! But we need to help get everyone in one spot and supervised as we transition from our CE programs to the 5:30 meal. To help accommodate families, Blair Hall will be available for parents to bring their Cherubs, and school age children not participating in Children’s Choir, for a relaxed time of playing and chatting with other parents and members of the church. If you’d like a quieter space for homework, you may use the Downstairs Parlor (Session Room). The only thing we ask is that parents be present!
