After three years of careful research and discussion, the boards of two local nonprofit organizations made an important decision: to merge. The Council for Older Adults and Senior Citizens Inc. joined forces to better serve the 55+ community.

Board of Directors approves new brand identity to launch in 2015

In October 2014, the Council for Older Adults’ Board of Directors voted to rebrand the organization as SourcePoint, with a new slogan: “Thrive after 55!” Brand rollout was slated for April 2015.

In-Home Care Services Clients

Who do we serve?

2014 Clients by Age:

16.5% are ages 60–69

32.8% are ages 70–79

38% are ages 80–89

12.7% are age 90+

SourcePoint’s Community Support Program is designed to help adults live safely in their own homes with independence and dignity. We provide a variety of in-home care services such as Meals On Wheels, help with chores, and transportation to medical appointments, as well as resources and support for family caregivers.

What percentage of service costs do clients pay out-of-pocket?*

2014 Co-pays:

41.58% of clients pay nothing 11.46% of clients pay 25–95%

25.56% of clients pay 5–20% 21.4% of clients pay 100%

*Clients pay for their services based on a sliding fee scale. This ensures that local tax levy dollars are used wisely based on a client’s ability to pay and their level of need.

Community Support

In 2014, we...Served 193,059 nutritious meals to Delaware County adults

Made 2,295 home visits to clients and potential clients

Provided information and assistance to 4,057 callers and visitors

Helped local adults with 178 home chores and repairs

Distributed more than 153,000 pounds of free groceries

Drove seniors to 629 medical appointments

Counseled 691 individuals on insurance and Medicare options

Allotted 32,790 free farmers’ market vouchers to 1,093 adults

Provided support and resources to 235 family caregivers

Supplied 58,824 cans of nutritional supplements

Delivered 2,325 pounds of donated pet food to Meals On Wheels clients

Other K ey AccomplishmentsPartnered with the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging (COAAA) to assist clients applying for extra help with benefits

Boosted assistance to eligible Delaware County residents to enroll in MyCare

Worked with OhioHealth Grady Memorial Hospital to provide emergency meals

Expanded our volunteer escort program

Launched Family Caregiver Program and held local essay contest

Worked alongside volunteers who provided more than 54,000 hours of service

Enrichment Center

Agency Financials

SourcePoint’s enrichment center is designed for fun, fitness, education, and creativity amongst friends and is a rich resource for those age 55 and older. The 44,000-square-foot center features a fitness room, warm water exercise pool, computer lab and library, dance room, art room, music room, billiards room, and other flexible spaces for group activities and social gatherings. There are more than 200 programs and trips each month.

How you can help...Donate. Your donation to SourcePoint supports programs and services for individuals 55 and older in Delaware County. This includes Meals On Wheels, health screenings, volunteer opportunities, transportation to medical appointments, social and educational programs, information and referral services, and more.

Volunteer. SourcePoint was founded by volunteers, and they continue to remain a vital key to our success. We depend on the energy and skills of our volunteers to fulfill our mission and to serve the public. We welcome one and all to get involved, whether for just one day, or for an ongoing experience.

Sponsor a special event. SourcePoint offers a number of high profile events and activities throughout the year. Some are geared toward the entire community and others are geared toward a segment of our membership.

Advertise with us. Advertise in My Communicator, our own newspaper targeted at older adults and their families in Delaware County. It has the largest circulation of any newspaper in the county – nearly 40,000 issues!
