Editors letter...
Welcome to the December issue of the Ackworth Arrow, I hope your
plans for Christmas are well underway and you and your family are
looking forward to the festive break.
On a more sombre note, November seen one of the most tragic loss
of lives in Doncaster for some time. The whole Doncaster community
came together to offer support and condolences to the families and
friends who have lost their loved ones.
All five teenagers who lost their lives were past or present
students of Danum Academy in Armthorpe. The Head Teacher, Rebecca
Staples and her team of staff have done an amazing job, opening the
school on Sunday morning as soon as they were aware of the news,
offering support to anyone who needed it and providing a source of
comfort. Area Dean, Revd Neil Redeyoff offered his support along
with other local clergy. Its inspiring to see what our communities
are capable of when needed.
The deadline for the January issue for advertising and articles

Come and Start Christmas with
The Ackworth 74 Club.
On December 9th at 7.30 pm the Ackworth 74 Club will be holding
their Annual Christmas Candlelight Celebration in the Methodist
Chapel Barnsley Rd. Ackworth. As in recent years, the Club are once
again very pleased to welcome The Ackworth Community Choir to lead
the singing and make their own individual contribution to the
event. You are invited to attend, participate in and enjoy a
non-denominational medley of Christmas Carols, Songs, Readings,
Prayers and Poems to get us all in the right mood for this very
special season. After the Celebration and in the true Spirit of
Christmas all visitors attending will be invited to partake in a
Faith Supper to be held in the Methodist Chapel Schoolroom. The
Faith Supper is provided free by Members of the Club. However,
there will be a retiring collection and money donated will go to a
local Charity. Please do come and join in this quite special,
annual, village event.
So Sorry Due to circumstances outside of our con-trol, the
pantomime of Peter Pan, which was to be held at Doncaster Race
Course this Christmas season has been cancelled.
Therefore, the Arrow can no longer offer a family ticket to the
winner of our draw,
however, Doncaster Race Course have very kindly offered to
substitute the prize with a
family ticket to a family fun racing day in March.
