Regional Historical Museum in Smolyan was established in 1935 by Stoyu Shishkov - publisher museum activist , teacher and public figure with a European dimension .

The collection of the Museum of History has approximately 150,000 museum objects and artifacts from archeology , history, life and culture of the native people . Storage are original works of art ,rich photo archive , and one of the largest collections of orders and medals in Bulgaria .

The galleryArt Gallery in Smolyan was established in 1964, the same year he opened his first exposure. In 1983, he moved to his new, specially designed building which has 1000 square meters exhibition area, storage areas, work areas, shop for conservation and restoration.

The galleryArt collection of the gallery has about 2,000 works by Bulgarian and foreign authors represented in different genres of painting, printmaking and sculpture, emphasizing the interest in artists permanently linked to the Rhodopes.

Rhodope Drama Theatre "Nikolay Hajtov'The building of the Rhodope Drama Theatre was built in 1984. It is unique in scale and architecture of the country. According to the ranking of UAB it is among the 20 best buildings of the century. The project of prof. Stefan Popov (professor at the International Academy of Architecture) won the American Institute of Architecture - "Special Prize" of the Third World Biennale of Architecture in the United States, 1985.

The planetariumOn September 6, 1975. Smolyan opens biggest Planetarium's observatory in. Planetarium is one of the most visited attractions in the mountain town. For the past 38 years it has been visited by over 2.65 million people.

Cathedral of Saint Vissarion of SmolyanThis is the first new church in the city for the last 130 years and the second largest temple in Bulgaria after the temple-monument "Alexander Nevsky." Every Orthodox Christian holiday its 11 bells made in Russia resound Rhodope Mountains and remind the bishop kept his faith in God's name.
