Size and Population• The size of the U.S.A. is 9.62 million square

kilometers.• With around 318 million people, it’s the world’s

3rd largest country by population.

The country of Spain would fit inside the U.S. state of Texas.

U.S. Mountains

• The Rocky Mountains form the longest mountain range in North America and the second-longest range in the world. They stretch 4800 km.

• Appalachian Mountains – East Coast, older, shorter

• Sierra Nevada – California, tallest mountain in the lower 48

• The Cascade Range is considered part of the Ring of Fire which is volcanoes that circle the Pacific Ocean.

Mt. Rainier is the tallest volcano in the Cascade Mountain Range.

Another Cascade volcano erupted in May 1980, when my sister was three months old.
