  TheRevolutionbroughtaboutmanygoodresults,butwiththegood also come the bad, or at least the less than desirableresults. The transformation the republican Revolution wasillustratedeverywhere.Customarytieswerecutandtraditionalhierarchieswerecut. AlthoughtheRevolutiondidnotcauseacollapseof the social order, it did alter the economyand theywaythepeoplelookedatthegovernment.

  It is ironic the effect the war can haveover any number of people. It was asuddeneffectthatwasfeltbymany.Thedepartureofthe“loyalists.” Itisaroughestimate, but it appears thatapproximately60,000 to80,000 loyalistsgot out of dodge andheaded toCanadaorGreatBritain.

  NowthesepeopledidreturntoAmericaandreintegrated intoAmerican society after the war. Loyalists account for themajoritypopulationintheEastandDeepSouth.Itwasnottheideal situation, being placed back into society. This causedmuch trials and tribulations and it was widespread. It wasbelievedthetruecauseforthiswasthe“suddenriseandfalloffortunesduringtheRevolutionaryyears.”

  Tobacco and other staple crops were up in arms upon therelease of British freeing slaves to fight “for the crown.” Thedevastating tobacco productions took a new turn and newmarketing,andnewparticipantscameasasmallrelief.

  The war was devastating to individuals and some merchants,butsomemerchantswereactuallyprosperingduringthis timeandfindingbiggerandbetteropportunities.
