The American Revolution Revisited June 8-16, 2015

240 years ago the 13 British colonies came together to fight for their independence from British rule to form the United States of America. Join University of Cincinnati History Department head Dr. Christopher Phillips as we journey back in time to visit some of the most important locations and events that changed colonists to become citizens of a new nation with the signing of the Declaration of Independence from Britain on July 4, 1776.

On this trip we will visit many of the cities, battlefields and sites that brought an untrained army of colonial militias under the leadership of General George Washington against the highly trained and well equipped British army. How victory was accomplished is truly amazing. We will visit Ft. Necessity, Valley Forge, PA, Trenton, NJ, the Battles of Lexington & Concord, the Siege of Boston, the Battle of Ft. Ticonderoga, the Battles of Saratoga, the Battle of Bunker Hill and more. You will visit Independence Hall in Philadelphia and The Freedom Trail in Boston.

Dr. Phillips will give you much insight as to the events that took place during this period including the political reactions to the Stamp and Townsend Acts being unlawful and what led up to the ultimate break from British colonists to become independent and lead to war. Learn about patriots including Sam & John Adams, Paul Revere, John Hancock, Benjamin Franklin, Ethan Allen, Lafayette and others who helped to frame this new nation.

This eight night tour will be by deluxe motorcoach originating in Cincinnati. We will have comfortable accommodations and dine at very unique restaurants. Local guides will provide great information at the places we will visit. We look forward to having you join us on this exciting historical adventure!
