President’s Corner I am indeed very grateful to our
club members for their all- out support to me and for the club. I can feel the strong
sense of belonging among our members who always show their care and generosity. With-
out them we as a Club can not meet the challenges of involve-ment, support, fellowship and
understanding. I joined Soroptimist because I want to serve and to gain
friends, I never dreamed to be in this leadership role, but here I am! Thank you SI Angeles for
trusting me. Let us continue working together in our commit-ment as a team to reach out for
our dreams to improve the lives
of women and girls in our com-munity and throughout the world.
To God Almighty, our Father, we seek His continued bless-
ings and guidance, to lead us in moving forward with a new strategic direction to Shape the
Future of Soroptimist. May He lead us to be more active, vi-brant and efficient in carrying out our services and programs
in the future. May He grant us a fruitful endeavor in the com-ing years.

penetrable web is drawn. It be-
comes a web of vitality and security which we consider our prosperity. A relationship is a delicate fusion of
two human beings. It is the intricate meaning of two lines, two sets of moods, mentalities and tempera-
ments. It is two intermingling hearts, both seeking solace and security. What matters most in life are human
relationships, not what ladders we climb or what possessions we accu-mulate. The investments of our lives in other people should be reflected
in our values and in the choices we make. It means people take prece-dence over things. What measure
are you using to insure that your
relationships are strong and healthy? What are you doing to solidify the bridges between you and those in your world?
We gaze into heaven on a clear
night awed by the myriad of stars punctuating the vast velvet black-ness. We marvel at the expanse of
God's handiwork. When we how-ever turn from such a spectacular view to the person standing beside
us, we somehow overlook that he is he who represents the zenith of the crown of creation. It is in this that
we see the eternal value of our rela-tionships. These are the people who make up the intricate web of our lives, the people whose relationships
are our precious resources. When people value people, an im-

Teen Dating and LYD Discussions
“When people
value people, an
impenetrable
web is drawn.”
By PDD Dory Siy-Hian
Feb 21, 2013– Pres. Janet and
other Soroptimists, had discus-sions on Teen Dating and Live Your Dream Campaign with An-
geles City Science High School students at our adopted baran-gay, Barangay Salapungan, An-
geles City. Present during the discussions
was Barangay Capitana Erna Bagang. It was a fruitful time with the girls who not only got tips on
dating dangers and violence but also got some orientation with our LYD Campaign on volunteerism.
power to help other women and girls to
live their dreams. Throughout history, and in every country throughout the world, women and girls face obstacles
and discrimination solely because of
their gender.
Live Your Dream.org offers several ways you can help women and girls. Options include helping a woman who
is trying to go back to school. Or pass-ing out teen dating violence or sex trafficking information. Another choice is to learn more about issues facing
women and girls, and then advocate to improve conditions. It might be as simple as joining the discussion on our
Facebook page. Your involvement depends on where your passions lie, and how our opportunities fit your
schedule. The project choices offered through Live Your Dream.org are So-roptimist programs. Live Your Dream-
ers help extend the impact and reach
Live Your Dream.org is an online vol-
unteer network, a self-motivated com-munity of people who wish to support women and girls in their quest to lead
better lives, while gaining inspiration in
their own lives.
This initiative is sponsored by Soropti-mist. What is the goal of Live Your
Dream.org? Live Your Dream.org inspires people from all walks of life to live their dreams, while helping less fortunate
women and girls to live theirs. This is accomplished through hands-on op-portunities, awareness and advocacy
efforts, and financial support—or any combination of these strategies. You determine your level of engagement.
In addition, Live Your Dream.org offers information and inspiration to help you
live your dream life.
Ho w c an I get i nv olv ed? Live Your Dream is predicated on the
idea that there is strength in numbers, and that collectively we have the
of these programs to benefit more
women and girls. What are the time and financial re-quirements?
There are absolutely no time or finan-cial requirements to join Live Your Dream.org. The choice about how
involved you want to be is up solely up to YOU. We are here to encourage you to make a difference in any way
you can. There is no cost to join the community. Some of the opportunities to become involved do suggest distrib-
uting materials, which are available for purchase. General donations, which are strictly voluntary, can be made to
help support the effort.
Are there any age or other restric-
tions? No. Anyone—male or female—can join Live Your Dream. The only require-
ment is a desire to support women and
girls in their efforts to live their dreams.
Volunteerism means the act of doing volunteer work in the
community. There is an interaction between you and the peo-ple you work with, a commitment, which requires coopera-tion.
Leader's Role: 1. Learn to motivate 2. Learn to manage
3. To move forward 4. Don't always have to be out front Achievement of Leader's Role means success on accomplish-
ments/fulfillment of volunteering Three components of interaction: 1. Environment/Club Culture- learn to adapt the environment
as well as the club culture 2. People/ enjoy the people you are working with, concentrate on the work and project
3. Communication/ good communication means lesser mis-takes Match People and Responsibilities
a. Define the task b. Assign jobs based on skills, interest and time availability, need to be realistic and with leadership potential
What volunteers want - to know what they did counts - to be successful
- to have personal and professional needs met To sum up a volunteer must have the talents, time, resources and commitment in the community.
