PREFACE

Sangola Taluka Shetkari Shikshan Prasarak Mandal runs the Vidnyan Mahavidyalaya,

Sangola from Sept. 1991. The College was commenced with 78 students of the Science faculty.

In 1993, Arts faculty was also started. The college started new faculty B.C.S from academic year

2006-07. Since last 18 years the strength of College is increasing per year and in academic year

(2010-11) it is reached to 1473.

Six special subjects from Arts faculty and six special subjects from Science faculty up to

graduate level are in full swing. There is facility provided to complete Post Graduation in

English, Computer Science subjects.

NAAC Peer Team visited the college in the month of July 2004 and accredited the

college with ‘B’ grade. As per NAAC guidelines we have great pleasure to submit AQAR of

year 2010-2011 which will give brief idea of academic, cultural, social, extension and some

other activities running in the college.

PART-A

The plan of action chalked out by the IQAC in the beginning of the academic year

2010-2011 towards quality enhancement.

The IQAC planned and discussed on following points.

Curriculum Aspects:

In IQAC it is decided that, framed syllabi should be covered within stipulated

time, which should be checked by principal. Adopt the Semester system for first year

students from all faculties, laid by Solapur University.

Teaching, Learning and Evaluation:

The procedure of introducing the course, lessons/ teaching plan/ Examination

pattern/ Evaluation methods by faculty to students at the beginning of Academic term

should be continued. The syllabi should be made available to the students. The feedback

from students should be collected at the end of term, which would be analyzed and

consider the proper suggestions. The provision should be made for the advance learner

and poor learner. To use modern teaching aids in teaching, learning and evaluation

process.

The faculty should be relieved to participate in Seminars/ Workshops/ Refresher

courses program etc.

Research Consultancy and Extension:

Suggested to promote the teachers for further research and register for Ph. D. The

researchers should be allowed to participate in Research paper/ poster Presentation. It is

decided to submit the minor research projects to UGC if the college gets recognition

under 12 (B). The research committee should be made to promote and monitor the

research activity. The provision should be made for departmental minor research project

and its financial assistance by the Institute. IQAC suggested for organization of some

National level seminars in academic year 2010-11.

Infrastructure & Learning Resources:

To continue the pure drinking water, an emergency medical facility, play ground

and sports facility to the students as a basic requirement.

Considering the requirement of additional toilets and bathrooms for women it is

decided to build some new toilets and bathrooms. Considering the newly started course,

it is decided to construct the required infrastructure and purchase the materials for

practical work and also purchase the modern teaching aids.

Student Support and Progression:

Distribute immediately the Scholarship from Government for ST, SC, OBC and

related students. Provide the facility of S. T. passes to outside students. To organize the

alumni meet to get the suggestion and help from them. Strengthen the student’s career

and guidance cell. The important instructions related to students should be displayed on

notice board. Arrange campus interview, and pay attention on student’s problem

individually.

Organisation and Management:

Some members from management are the members of IQAC; they consider the

increasing demands, fulfillment of infrastructure, academic and financial discipline of the

institute. It is decided to continue the remaining construction work of ladies toilet,

compound wall, entrance gate, leveling and cleanliness of campus, etc.

Library:

Increase the number of books and other library facility to students and staff to

cope increasing number of students and changed syllabi of various subject. Apply for

INFLIBNET facility to Ahmadabad.

Culture, Sports, NCC and NSS:

To promote the students to participate in Yuva Mahotsav – a cultural program,

different sports competition at zonal, university and inter university level. Organization

of NCC and NSS camp programs.

New Courses:

It is decided to send a proposal to university and government regarding new

courses B. A. Part- I NCC, PGDCA.

Outcome/ Task completed in 2010 – 11

As per the planning of the IQAC formed as per the guideline of NAAC and efforts of

Principal, teachers and administrative staff we achieved following outcome (task completed)

in year 2010 – 11.

Curriculum Aspects:

The syllabi were completed in stipulated time. Principal checked through heads of

department time to time the syllabi was being completed satisfactorily.

Teaching, Learning and Evaluation:

All faculties introduced the course, lessons/ teaching plan/ Examination pattern/

Evaluation methods to students at the beginning of Academic term. The syllabi were

made available to the students. The feedbacks from students were collected at the end of

term by committee, which were analyzed by principal and considered the valuable

suggestions. The books and educational facility was supplied to advance learner and poor

learner. The modern teaching aids like OHP, Multimedia, and Internet are in use.

The 13 teachers were send to Refresher/ Workshops/ Seminars etc., as planned in

IQAC Cell.

Research Consultancy and Extension:

College got recognition from UGC under 12 (B) at academic year ending, so

submitted the 5 research project (Minor Research Project) to UGC for financial

assistance. Besides this 5 departmental minor research projects were sanctioned with `

7000/- financial assistance by the Institute itself.

Extension Activity: Botany, Chemistry, Geography and zoology departments are

engaged with extension activity like plant identification, soil, water analysis, varmiwash,

vermiculture, vermicompost and blood group identification etc. respectively.

Infrastructure & Learning Resources:

Pure drinking water, toilets, canteen, parking, play ground and sports facilities

were made available to the students as fundamental requirements. To get an emergency

medical facility the institution has made agreement with nearby Hospital.

The construction of the required infrastructure was done worth ` 7,90,284/-. 2

more DLPs were purchased as a modern teaching aid.

Student Support and Progression:

The scholarships by government were distributed immediately to the students of

NT, SC, ST, OBC and minority students. As well as Institution is providing the facility

of S. T. passes to outside students. The college made available an opportunity to B. Sc.

Students to appear campus interview and written test arranged by Tata Cummins LTD.

Phaltan.

Bekart Ltd. Pune, T. V. S. Logistics Pune, Assal Ltd, Larial India Ltd. TIW India

Ltd, Force Moters Ltd. Chakan, Ultra Engineers Ltd. Pioneer Job ltd etc. had organized

the campus interview for students on 17th

Feb. 2011 at college campus. 140 candidates

were selected by these companies.

The notices concerned to students were always displaced on the notice board.

Organization and Management:

Some members from management who are the members of IQAC, they

considered the increasing demands, fulfillment of infrastructure, academic and financial

discipline of the management, so institute got new required infrastructure viz. main

entrance gate, compound wall, additional new bathrooms and toilet for women.. Beside

this Institute’s and Management’s financial audit was get completed within time.

Library:

To cope with the increasing demands of students and faculty the new books are

purchased and other library facilities are developed. According to changed syllabi of

various subject the new number of Reference Books, Textbooks, Journals, Periodicals,

Novels, Plays etc. were purchased of worth ` 2,98,308/-.

Culture, Sports, NCC and NSS:

The students participated in a various cultural competition like, Youth- Festival

and got prizes for that. Many students were played in various sports competitions at

University, Inter-university level and represented the college at National level.

26 NCC cadets are appearing for ‘B’ certificate and 15 students for ‘C’ certificate

examination. The Pulse Polio camp, blood donation, cleaning of bus stand campus was

organized by the NCC cadets. One NCC cadet participated for TSC camp up to inter-

group competition. In Nov. 2010, 5 cadets were participated in Army attachment Camp

which was held at Ahmadnagar.

The NSS unit is of 200 students 130 boys and 70 girls’ students. The 10 days

special camp was organized at Solapur University campus. 100 volunteers from College

(65 boys and 35 girls) were participated in the special camp. They dug out the 220 met.

long counter trench for plantation in University campus. In camp the volunteers organize

street play on “save girls” issue and some intellectual lectures.

New Courses:

As a natural growth new class of M. Sc. II Computer Science was started in

Academic year 2010-11.

� Goals:

1. To impart education of high quality.

2. To broaden the view of higher education.

3. To strengthen knowledge based development.

4. Inclusive growth for socio-economic changes and sustainable

development.

Aims and Objectives of the Institution

� To open the schools & colleges in order to give primary, secondary, higher secondary,

vocational, technical education and also higher and professional education to the

students, especially from the rural area.

� To open the Montessories, Laboratories, Technical training centers, Libraries and hostels

for boys and girls, in order to help them to complete education, upbringing them in the

main stream of society and to create an interest and awareness about education.

� To provide scholarship & other facilities in order to develop all round personality of

students and to develop their mental, physical health and economic status. To create a

sense of patriotism, social responsibility and environment among students.

� To give the guidance & information to students and people from rural area by the experts

from academic, social, political, cultural, agriculture and economic fields.

� To create volunteers and social workers and to train them in order to develop the rural

area in all fields.

� This institution does not believe in any caste, religion and discrimination. All students

from any caste are admitted in the college; especially students from reserve category are

admitted with priority.

� This is non-political institution.

� The Sangola is situated in remote and drought-prone area of Solapur district,

Maharashtra. Up to 1991, there was no Institution in existence providing the education of

science faculty. So most of the students could complete their graduation through Art

faculty only. Especially for ladies students this difficulty was more severing. So the

society was demanding to open the college with Science faculty. By considering the

society’s demand and student’s willingness, Sangola Taluka Shetkari Shikshan Prasarak

Mandal opened the college named ‘Vidnyan Mahavidyalaya, Sangola’, providing the

education of science faculty. After 2 years that is from the academic year 1993, Arts

faculty also had started. Now the college is providing the quality education to the pupils

in

3. Innovations in curricular design and transaction:

� There was no due for syllabi designing. Previously a framed syllabus was implemented

with modern teaching aids. The term and monthly planning were done at the beginning

of term.

� For better transaction the faculty provides the study material and teaching aids to the

learners.

� Prof. Suryavanshi R. S. and Prof. Mrs. Gaikwad S. A. had written the practical book as

per the new syllabus for B. Sc. I class.

4. Inter-disciplinary programs started:

� College has already Inter-disciplinary subjects for B.A. part second. Environment

science has been introduced as compulsory Inter-disciplinary subject at part III classes of

B. Sc..

5. Examination reforms implemented:

� The college is affiliated to the Solapur University and follows the Examination pattern

and evaluation schemes designed by the University. Beside this the college arrange

Terminal Examination of University pattern for every class. Each department conduct the

tests.

� College conducted examination for B. Sc. Part II, III, and B. A. Part II, III students after

completion of syllabi.

6. Candidates qualified: NET/SLET/GATE etc.:

� The college is not having PG courses (except English, computer science), so candidates

could not eligible to attempt NET/SLET/GATE etc.

23. Courses in which students’ assessment of teachers is introduced and action taken on

students’ feedback:

� Student’s feedbacks on faculty were collected in the questionnaire format designed by

college. The analyses were done by the principal and the worthy suggestions were

discussed with respective faculty.

� For all courses, student’s assessment of teachers is introduced. At regular intervals the

Principal and senior faculty members visits every class for students’ feedback. These

feedbacks get discussed with concerned faculty in person for constructive suggestions,

corrective and the disciplinary measures were taken.

timetable and all letter documents are prepared on computer.

� Recently the college has purchased tailor made new software viz. Payroll software and

� In computer department there are five advanced computer laboratories with internet

facility and other departments like Physics, Statistics, Mathematics, Geography,

Chemistry, Botany and Zoology has separate computers. In Computer dept. there are 100

computers of advanced configuration with LAN and broadband Internet connectivity.

This facility was made available for teachers and students. The students can obtain B.Sc.

degree in computer science, Bachelor in Computer Application (B.C.A), B. Sc. (ECS-

Entire Computer Science). In all computer Laboratories backup about 30KV UPS with

40 batteries are available.

36. Activities of the Guidance & Counseling Unit:

� Respective faculty members helped the students regarding their academic difficulties like

Nature of question papers and representation in Answer book of University

examinations. Students were guided about recruitment in various fields by Experts. The

opportunity was made available to the students to remain present for the campus

interview at Channusing Cahndale College of social science, Solapur. The students are

get counselled to participate in various competitions, Cultural activities, N.S.S. and

N.C.C.

� 16 students were deputed to participate in Personality development camp held at Budh,

Dist –Satara organized by SUSTA.

� 3 Students were send to Oral Quiz Competition in Statistics held at P. V. P. College,

Kavethemahankal Dist - Sangli.

37. Placement Services provided to the students:

� The students were locally contacted to attain the campus interview arranged by Force

Motors ltd at Channusing Chandele College of social science, Solapur.

� Bekart Ltd. Pune, T. V. S. Logistics Pune, Assal Ltd, Larial India Ltd. TIW India Ltd,

Force Moters Ltd. Chakan, Ultra Engineers Ltd. Pioneer Job ltd etc. had organized the

campus interview for students on 17th

Feb. 2011 at college campus. 140 candidates were

selected by these companies.

� As usual the president of Institute Mr. Ganapatrao Deshmukh, his birthday was

celebrated as a Shramik (l{_H$)(l{_H$)(l{_H$)(l{_H$) Day. On that occasion various cultural and sports

competitions were organized, viz. Blood donation, Dance competition, Elocution,

Rangoli etc.

� The college has its own Academic Calendar, according to which the curricular and

extracurricular activities were completed.

� College publishes Bharari (âmarâmarâmarâmar) hand writings of students containing literature on

various aspects, and made available in Library.

� Botany department of college had a botanical garden, rockery and shed house having

number of species pertaining from syllabus.

Part- C

Detail the Plan of the institution for next year (2011-2012):

Preparations for the NAAC Re-accreditation. To submit the

different proposals to UGC for financial assistance. To continue the

INFLIBNET subscription with N-List, Ahmadabad. Beside these,

teaching process will be carried out as per schedule. Learning of the

students will take place through classroom lectures, practical & the

functions (activities) organization related to occasions. The maximum

teachers depute to attend seminars, workshops, orientation & refresher

courses & also various meetings organized by university authorities.

Evaluation of the students will be carried out through seminars, unit tests,

examinations etc. To organize the numbers of competitions such as essay

writing, poetry recital, elocutions, debating, cultural competitions, sports

competitions etc. are the different tasks through which students will be

evaluated. Besides these activities, co-curricular activities will be

performed as per plan given below.

1. The college got 12 (B) recognition, so submission of maximum proposals of

research Projects (MRP) and infrastructure development to UGC for financial

assistance.

2. To start new courses like, M. C. A., B. Sc. II (new division), and PGDCA.

3. Construction of main entrance gate.

4. Computerization of Library.

5. Atomization of Office work.

6. Strengthening of redressal/ grievance committee.

7. Provision for Institute’s scholarship to meritorious and outstanding sport students.

8. To submit the proposals of Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Statistics,
