One of the most frequently used theories reduces “Nero Caesar” to the Hebrew consonant equivalent “Nron Ksr” and adds up the numerical value for each letter. In primitive languages a letter was often used for a number as in the Roman system: V for 5, X for 10, C for 100, etc.

So in Hebrew the numerical equivalent would be: N=50, R=200, O=6, N=50, K=100, S=60, R=200. The total is 666.Thus making Nero the “antichrist”.

A favorite theory names the first Roman Catholic ruler was named Latinus. In Greek his name is spelled Lateinoj. In the Greek numerology it works out: L=30, a=1, t=300, e=5, i=10, n=50, o=70, j=200Total= 666
