The Tube Hill is open Saturdays and Sundays 1300-1900 and (special days for winter break) December 26, 28, January 2, 4.No experience is necessary simply hop in your tube, push off,and enjoy the ride down one of our 800 foot long runs. A tube lift makes the ride back to the top easy. There are risks associated with this activity including, but not limited to: speed; changing weather; terrain; surface and sub-service conditions; collisions with other tubers, natural and man-made objects; and lack of directional and speed control.

By purchasing a tubing ticket you assume the risk of all injuries!*Minimum age requirement is 5 years old and height requirement is at least 40 inches tall. Five and six years old must be accompanied by an adult in a separate tube.

Remember, this is a Snow Tube Park and when closed may not be used as a sledding hill!

SNOWMACHINE THE WHITE MOUNTAINS1/5, 0800-1700$75/personTake a snowmachine run to the White Mountains National Recreation Area. Trip departs from the ORC at 8:30 am. We will provide transportation, snowmachines and helmets. Be sure to bring your camera, warm coat, gloves, boots, daypack with bungee cord, lunch, snacks and drinks.

LUNCH SKI AND SOUP1/10, 2/7, 1200-1300Cost: $5/personTake advantage of the fleeting daylight by joining us at lunch for a ski around our Glass Park Trails. Skis, boots, poles and hot soup for lunch are provided. We will also have staff on hand if you need a quick ski lesson!

EXPLORE THE LOCAL SKI TRAILS1/12, 1100-1500Cost: $5/person.Glide along with us and check out trails you may not have known about. We provide all the ski equipment you need as well instruction if you’ve never skied before. Warm clothes and water are a must for this fun day on skis!

SNOWMACHINE SAFETY COURSE1/12, 2/2, 0900 and 1300No cost. For ages 18+ Participants will be issued a Snowmachine Safety Card at the conclusion of the course. This class is required to rent snowmachines from the Outdoor Recreation Center. FAMILY SNOWMACHINE RUN1/13, 2/10 1300-1500Drivers must be 18+Cost: $25/operator. No cost for passengers (must be age 8+).Our staff will take the lead as you experience your backyard in a new way! XC DAY SKI1/19, 0900-1600Cost: $10/person.There simply is no better way to explore the winter landscape of interior Alaska than by cross country ski. We will head out to some fantastic trails to explore and enjoy the brief winter sunlight. Never skied before? No problem! Our staff will have you gliding along in no time. Ski equipment is provided, you simply bring warm clothes, water and lunch.

FAMILY ½ DAY SKI1/20, 1300-1500Cost: $5/person.Get the family out for a fun afternoon trying out cross country skiing in Glass Park. No experience necessary. Bring warm clothes and water, we provide the skis and snow!

ANGEL CREEK OVERNIGHT1/19-20, 0800-1700Cost: $160/personOn this trip we will snowmachine the trails off Chena Hot Springs Road by day, at night you can relax at the lodge or take a warm soak at the Hot Springs. We provide transportation, snowmachines, helmets, lodging and meals. You bring warm clothing, boots, gloves and a towel if you plan to take a warm soak. Reservations must be made by January 4th!

ALYESKA SKI/SNOWBOARD ADVENTURE1/25-27, departs at 5 p.m.Cost: $200/person.Alyeska is a world class ski/snowboard destination that has an average of almost 650” of snow a year! We will drive down on Friday evening and ride powder all day Saturday. On Sunday we will return to Ft. Wainwright. We provide transportation, lodging and a lift ticket. You provide your own food, ski/snowboard gear (bring your own or rent), and warm clothes.

WITW ICE FISHING2/9, 0800-1700 Cost: $45/person.An Alaska State Fishing License is required!The same as our other ice fishing trip except this time it is a women’s only fishing trip to one of our interior lakes. If you are new to ice fishing then here is your chance to see how it’s done. We will provide transportation, rod & reel, bait, ice fishing hut with wood stove and the know-how to get you started. If the temps drop to -20 degrees or lower we will attempt to postpone to a warmer day.

GLACIER CAVE EXPLORATION2/9, 0700-2000Cost: $75/person.For ages 18+Try something completely unique and journey down inside of a glacier. Brilliant blue ice, winding caverns, and shimmering crystals are just a few of the spectacular sights that can be seen on this trip. This trip is physically challenging, involving periods of crawling, climbing and tight spaces. No experience necessary, but good physical fitness is a must. Our guides will lead you to the cavern via snowmachine and instruct you in the use of the safety equipment. All equipment is provided. Please bring food, water, warm clothing (you may get dirty on this trip) and a headlamp.

ALYESKA HOLIDAY WEEKEND ADVENTURE2/15-18, departs from ORC 2/15, 0900.Return 2/18, 1800 (apx.)Cost: $280/person.Minimum participants: 17 (We must have 17 people signed up by 2/1. No refunds will be given after 2/1).

Make the most of your 4-day weekend for Washington’s Birthday by joining Outdoor Recreation as we head down to Alyeska Resort in Girdwood for 2 days a skiing or snowboarding at one of the best ski resorts in the country! This trip will leave Friday the 15th for Girdwood, where we will spend 3 nights at the

Alyeska Resort Hotel. Saturday and Sunday will be spent on the slopes and we will head back to Fairbanks on Monday the 18th. Trip cost includes lodging, transportation and lift passes. Food is not provided on this trip. Lessons and rentals (if needed) will be available at Alyeska at an additional cost.

COMPEAU’S TRAIL SNOWMACHINE TRIP2/23, 0800-1700Cost: $75/personThe Outdoor Recreation Team will be making a snowmachine run on the Compeau’s Trail in the Chena River State Recreation Area. The trail begins down in the river valley and eventually winds its way to the ridge tops. We will provide transportation, snowmachine, and helmet. You bring your lunch, snacks, drinks, boots, gloves, and cold weather clothing. If the temperature drops below -10 degrees, we will try to postpone to a warmer date.

WINTER CARNIVAL2/23, 1000-1400Join us for a fun day of winter activities in Glass Park. The days are getting longer and warmer so get out and enjoy it! Come by and try snowshoeing, skiing, go for a snowmachine ride and much more! This event is free and is open to all ages. No sign up necessary.

CROSS COUNTRY SKIING LESSONSPlease call to arrange lessons with the instructor at 361-2652.Age: 10+Cost: $5/personLessons are offered all winter long starting in November and equipment is provided. Sessions run between 45 minutes and an hour. If the temperatures hits below -10°F, lessons will be postponed to a warmer date.

The HIRED! Apprenticeship Program provides 15-18 year-old youth with meaningful, professionally managed career-exploration opportunities in Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) operations. The program is open to dependents of active duty, DoDcivilian, and retired military personnel.

• Candidates must be 15–18 years of age• Must be registered with Child, Youth & School Services (CYS Services)• Must have and maintain a GPA of 2.0 or better• Chosen participants are required to work 15 hours/week for 12 weeks• Additional options and requirements may be offered during the Summer Term• Apprentices may complete up to 2 terms/year for 3 consecutive years
