The twentieth century without any doubt is one of the most remarkable in human history for its burst in technological advances and scientific discoveries, a rate that continues to this day. In fact there have been so many new gadgets invented and discoveries made in the last century that it is difficult just to tell which is the most important. Some people think T.V. is the greatest of all because of its influence on humanity, however I think I have to vote antibiotics as the most important discovery with both, positive and negative influence in the last 100 years.Yes, I know T.V. is the societys news source, teacher, entertainer and even baby sitter, though in competent hands , television can be useful sometimes it is the greatest why families no longer use the kitchen or dining room anymore, but instead spent the time in the living room around the television, eating microwaveable food. Worse, most of us would have no idea what to do without the stupid box.On the other hand antibiotics made a turning point in humanitys length of life, Before Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin, almost any little bug would be fatal. With penicillin an a whole range of other antibiotics the rate of mortality plunged, even some diseases became obsolete or easily treatable. The negative influence would be that viruses have become more resistant to antibiotics and penicillin itself is no longer widely used.Therefore without further comments the discoveries in medicine are to be the most important in humanity history.
