THE BLUE UMBRELLAThe Blue Umbrella is a delightful film based on
a novel by Ruskin Bond. Set in picturesque mountains of Himachal
Pradesh, it portrays the pandemonium in a small village, when Binya
(Shreya Sharma), a young girl trades her bear claw necklace for a
blue Japanese umbrella. The novelty is stolen, after her refusal to
sell it to a persuasive, envious shopkeeper, Nandakishore; while he
strangely gets a similar red umbrella. Binyas popularity shifts to
him, until the villagers discover that his umbrella is the stolen
one, dyed red. The movie concludes with Binya prancing happily,
