DECEMBER COUNCIL MEETING The regular meeting of the City Council of Pewee Valley, Kentucky was held on Monday, December 7, 2015. In attendance were Mayor Bob Rogers, Council Members Henry Walser, Norman Schippert, Bethany Major, and Dick Filippini. Also in attendance were John Singler, City Attor-ney and Laura Eichenberger, City Clerk. Council Member Rex Florence was absent.FINANCIAL REPORT The Profit& Loss vs.Actual, and BalanceSheet through December 2, 2015 reports from the Treasurer were distributed in the Council Mem-ber meeting packets. POLICE REPORT Chief Larimore reported two complaints re-ceived about contractor services (such as treeremovalservices)wheredamagetothepropertytook place and the contractor’s insurance had lapsed. RESIGNATION OF COUNCIL MEMBER WILLARD CHAMBERS Will Chambers submitted his resignation from the City Council on November 2, 2015.HisresignationwaseffectiveasofDecember7,2015. A motion to accept Willard Chambers’ resig-nation was made and seconded, with all Council Memberspresentvotinginfavor.

OPEN COMMENTS Resident Don Helton stated he has twice do-natedaflagrecognizingourtroopstobeflownontheCity’sflagpole.Thelastflagbecamefrazzledand was taken down. Mr. Helton presented the Council a replacement flag to honor thosewhoareservinginourmilitary,aswellasthoseinourcommunity with family serving in active dutyand in the Kentucky National Guard. Mr. Helton further committed to replacing the flagwhen itbecomesfrazzled. A motion was made and seconded to accept theflagdonation,withallCouncilMemberspres-entvotinginfavor. Ann Helton inquired about the replacement of trees along a large section of Highway 146 nearDogwoodLane.EnvironmentalBoard(TreeBoard)ChairandCouncilMemberTraceyWil-liams responded that there are 30 trees coming in bytheendoftheweekandseveralofthosearereplacements for that corridor. DonHeltonrequested that theEnvironmen-tal Board rotate each year between St. Aloysius and the Pewee Valley Jr. Academy the annual tree planting and Arbor Day ceremony.

Oldham County is holding a Special Election forawet/dryvoteonTuesday, December 29, 2015.

Bob Rogers (Roads & Drainage/Tree Board):Mayor Rogers announced Tracey Williams will take over responsibility for the EnvironmentalBoard as Council Member. Tracey is currently theChairof theEnvironmentalBoard,andhasservedasamembersince2012.

Oldham County Community Scholarship: Cindy Hack, Pewee Valley resident and member of the OCCS Executive Board, stated the pro-gramreceived385applicationsandawarded109scholarships in 2015. Last year the City contributed two $500 scholarships through OCCS, with stipulations of PeweeValleyresidency(withinCitylimits)andfinancialmeanstested. A motion to contribute two $500 scholarships from the City of Pewee Valley with the stipula-tions including Pewee Valley residency within City limits and financial means tested appliedwas made and seconded, with all Council Mem-berspresentvotinginfavor. Permanent Sign Permit Request:Therequesttoreplacetheold“Gravely”signwitha“Coca-Cola” sign on the Herdt Motor building was dis-cussed. Chief Larimore spoke with the tenant

submitting the request and stated that it was in-tended to sell the “Coca-Cola” sign and then hang another sign for sale. This was not clear on the permit request form. City Attorney John Singler will research County ordinance regarding outdoor sales areas, as this type request does not fall under the City’s sign ordinance. A motion was made and seconded to table the approvalof thePermanentSignPermitRequestuntil the January 4, 2016 Council Meeting. All CouncilMemberspresentvotedinfavor.OPEN COMMENTS There was no response to the call for open comments.

NEW COUNCIL MEMBER Tracey Williams was sworn in on December 7thas a councilmember.Williamshas lived inPewee Valley with her husband Mark and their two children since 2002. She is theownerofGreensleevesDesign,alandscape designer and horticulturalist based in Louisvillewithover20yearsintheindustry.Herprojects include gardens at Brown-Forman, the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens, the Fam-ily Scholar House and many regional schools.
