Rotten tomato The IRCTC & ER HQ

Unknowingly I wascarrying a rotten tomato for quite sometime. To be precise from 17th Feb'13 when I canceled my

Singrauli- Howrah ticket. The ticket I booked on 15/2/13

for a journey on 19/2/13 at 9 PM from Singrauli toKolkata on 3rd AC(PNR no:2244135575)on train no:19608 for

    me and my wife.

On 18/2/13 I came to know that we will not be able to

make the journey so around 6 PM I canceled the ticket of

this train coming from Ajmer to Kolkata (All KOAA

Express). At 6 PM the IRCTC page told me that the chart

has already been prepared. Therefore, I've to book a TDR

    process for refund.

Though it was well before 27 hours from my point of

boarding but because the chart has been prepared at Ajmer

end my chances of a full refund was gone. Fully

dissatisfied I booked the TDR and then forgot it

completely. An week later on 27th Feb'13 for the first

time I found that only 25% of the ticket cost (Rs:1860)

Rs:460 was refunded by IRCTC. As per the rule the refund

    should be 50% minimum.

I called the IRCTC number provided in the webpage (011-

39340000) and the graceful lady promptly told me to shot an

email to [email protected] stating the PNR number

and and the nature of problem.

So did I and also asked humbly in my email by which rule

the 75% money was deducted. All IRCTC rule says either 0%

, 50% or 100% to be deducted but never ever a newer 75%

deduction rule stated anywhere. The acknowledgement camevery promptly next day.

The entire episode I forgot until a few weeks later my

colleague told me that in one of his TDR case no money

    was refunded at all.

Since then every week I checked up with my refund account

and then talked to IRCTC , email a series of complain

letters , talked to the IRCTC supervisor Sh Amit Roy and

so on. They only told me to wait for some more time.

Seeing my recalcitrant nature the IRCTC finally wrote one

email to me on 15th April'13 stating that they have sent

letter on 15th April'13 to the Eastern railway regional

head quarter to reopen the case as my refund was notcomplete.

A few weeks gone and on 7th May'13 I knocked the IRCTC

again for my refund and the poor supervisor Sh Amit Roy

told me humbly that he cannot do anything further as the

entire process of TDR refund is looked after by the

eastern railway regional head quarter (in my case ). He

gave me a few numbers to knock them, to wake them up as

he was really undone in my case.

I was getting the feeling that I'm loosing the battle now

.Time has come to give up and forget this rotten tomato

for ever. The numbers I know will never be picked up or

answered as it is the common experience for any railway

inquiry numbers at Kolkata. They phones here in railway

offices (or perhaps in any other offices) are only for

making outgoing calls not for receiving any. Just watch

in any reservation center in Kolkata and you will see

that the inquiry man is least bothered to pick up thephone.

So it turned out to be exactly same as I guessed none

of the numbers were picked up. One number offered for a

voice message 'after the beep' but the beep is never ever

heard. Even then I pushed my vice message anticipating an

imaginary beep but the call terminated as 'wrong entry'.

Now I've understood that there are certain limits after

reaching where one has to look back and better still

leave the battle as continuing it further will not yield

any result other then getting the tomato further rotten

    and stinking more.

So today I've decided not to bother for that refund which

some unknown officer in Kolkata railway office of eastern

region head quarter has gobbled up for don't know what

reason. This tomato has rotten so much and stinking so

heavily that I cannot carry it further.

Newspapers and News channels thrive on ill fate of human

beings. Somebody very rightly said news are bad, they

are sad and they will make you mad and nothing attractsmore attention to them than the human destitute, so it's

now for you guys to use it in your way to find out what

percentage gets 75% cut etc to rot it further..

    further... further.

Because I'm no longer going to carry it.
