“The Case of the Boss’ Daughter”
I. Statement of the Problem Will you, as the Human Resource Department Head, accept the boss’ daughter’s
job application despite her bad performance in the past? Does the applicant’s relationship to the boss matter in accepting her requested
job position even her filing of application already past due? If you ever consider her job application, how will you assure that her
performance will be better compared to her past performance in the company?II. Objective
To be able to determine whether she’s worthy of the position. To be able to find out if the relationship of the applicant to the boss of the
company will affect the decision of the Human Resource Department Head.III. Brief Summary
The daughter of the board president is applying for a certain position in the company. But her filing of application was already past due. The Human Resource Department are the ones who evaluate the applicants. Being the head of the department, you hold the responsibility of hiring the worthy applicants in their requested position. The senior manager of the company told you about the past performance of the boss’ daughter. Now the head must decide if he will accept the boss’ daughter even he already knew her performance background.
IV. Alternative Courses of Action As the head of the Human Resource Department, I will hire the boss’ daughter even
her filing of application already lapsed. I will refuse the boss’ daughter’s job application because it didn’t reach the
deadline. I will not take it to consideration the relationship of the applicant and my boss who
happens to be my godfather also in accepting her in the company.
V. Decision ConstraintsA. PROS
You can possibly save the company from a threat of an employee’s bad performance.
B. CONS You’ll get possibly fired by the boss of the company for rejecting his daughter’s job
application.
VI. RecommendationFor me the best choice of action is to reject her job application because it’s already
past due. Since the boss of the company gave this responsibility to you, I think the boss will never give you a punishment of rejecting the job application of his daughter. And you already knew her job performance which can be a threat to the company.
VII. ConclusionIn making decisions, you must consider the possibilities of some positive and
negative effects so that if ever there is something good or bad that will happen as a result of your decisions, you are prepared for it.
