RIVENDELL STUDY CENTER to begin classes at St. Bartholomew's September 5th!

The Vestry approved an agreement for use of our building for the above ministry to children who are home schooled. This ministry will use our second floor classrooms for educational purposes every Monday and Wednesday of the week. The Rivendell Study Center is a biblically based and Christ-centered ministry that seeks to assist parents who are homeschooling their children. There are over 40 students grades K-12th in the program. The children of three of our member families have participated in the classes for the last several years. Our Mission is to equip and enable believers to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ by word and deed, both locally and abroad. Locally, Nationally and Internationally!

To donate and support the LeMarquands, send your check to SAMS (Society of Anglican Missionaries and

Senders) PO Box 399, Ambridge, PA 15003 (put their name the MEMO line of check)

Your Global Missions Ministry set into motion many ministry initiatives. Here are some of the many coming up!

Rock, Rods and Relationships –Saturday, August 17 was a wonderful success. A great many of our parish showed and shared the love of Christ with those who came to St. Bart’s for the first time. The foods was great and the music was done with excellence.

Integrity Bottle Recycling - Folks are encouraged to bring their bottles to Integrity (located next to St. Bart’s) and the money from their deposits goes to support St. Bart’s Mission Initiatives. We have already received several checks that will be used for “Missions” at St. Bart’s.

Crescent Project - We are reviewing the video teaching series “Bridges” on understanding Muslims and will present to the parish as a Friday Night Bible Study in the Fall.

Compassion Weekend - October 5 & 6 we will have packets available for people to sponsor a Compassion Child.

Health Fair - Come join us on Saturday, September 7, from 10 AM to 1 PM. There will be testing for blood sugar, cholesterol, BP, Flu vaccine and Pneumonia vaccine available.

Our next meeting is Wednesday, September 4 at 6 PM. Please come and joins us - you don’t have to be a missionary to attend!!!!!

On August 17, St. Bart’s shared food, music, fun and the LOVE of Christ with the community.

At this event - for the first time - we have a “blessing of the Bikes.” Check out the photos

below, as the “Righteous Riders” and others came to have their bikes blessed.

St. Bart’s Senior Choir Appeal for New Members

The singing season is about to begin! Won’t you please consider being a part of one of our choirs this year? I have chosen a lot of beautiful music for all ages. Below is the rehearsal and singing schedule for our choirs:

The first rehearsals for the junior and senior choirs will be Wednesday, September 4. Juniors will rehears from 6-6:45PM. The choir is open to all children ages 6 through 13, and will sing at the 9:15 service. The senior choir will rehearse from 7-8:30 PM, and is open to all, ages 14 through adult. The senior choir mainly sings at the 11 AM service. New faces are welcome.

Our contemporary choir sings on the third Sunday of each month, for the 9:15 AM service. The choir is open to all ages. I would specifically like to invite our youth to sing with us this year! Our existing members would really welcome you! Our first rehearsal will be Sunday, September 15, at 8:30 AM. The first Sunday we will sing will be that Sunday, Sept. 15.

Won’t you please sing with one of our choirs this year? God will bless you for the tithe of your time and talent.

“Singing is the sound of the soul set free.”

Sincerely,

Terry Gamble Organist/Choir Director

From David Curtis

To clergy and friends of St. Bartholomew’s.

Thank you so much for your prayers, visits

and all your cards for my surgery at BGH.

Thank you for all your phone calls checking

on my recovery. God’s blessing on you all.

A BIG thank you to all who helped make

this year’s VBS a huge success. A total of 46

people helped with the theme “Kingdom

Rock” and David slaying Goliath.

Peace be with you!

Women’s Tuesday Evening Bible Study

Please join us as we begin another Bible Study together starting on Tuesday, Sept.

10. We meet every other Tuesday evening at 6:30 and end at approximately 8 p.m.

This year we will be studying and learning about the men of the Bible beginning

with Adam and how they inspire us by their successes, how they challenge us with

their failures and encourage us by the fresh insights they bring to our own struggles

and challenges. Our text is the Holy Bible and we will use it as we study their life

stories together and see how the Lord worked in their lives and also ours today!

We will also use a variety of DVD’s to supplement our study. Our first is

entitled “The Potter.” We will see how the Lord shapes and transforms the lives of

His own for His own purposes as a testimony to Him. You won’t want to miss this!

Another DVD we will view and discuss is “The Dawning” by Dr. Joseph Stowell.

Dates for our Study are as follows:

Sept. 10,

Sept. 24,

Oct. 8,

Oct. 22,

Nov. 5,

Nov. 19,

and Dec. 3.

Please contact Elaine Henzler for more information at 957-3695. Looking forward to

seeing YOU!

38 bags of food were taken to the Food Pantry in August. Thank you for your generosity!

The Food Pantry is in need of personal care items. Food items most needed are cereal, pancake mix, pancake syrup, peanut butter, jelly, tuna fish, small cans of soup, dry soup mixes and mac & cheese.

Please bring your items on the FIRST SUNDAY OF THE MONTH so that our “Food Pantry Delivery Angels” only have to make one trip.

"Galaxy of Quilts" Quilt Show": The Kenmore Quilters Patch will be having their 2013 show on Friday and Saturday, October 4 & 5 at St. Bart's. The Bishop Scaife Guild will be having a baked goods sale and serve sandwiches and pizza at the show. There will be a sign up sheet in the Sunday bulletin for those who would like to donate baked goods or you may call Carol Siock (835-2105) or Edith Manning (873-0449).

Coming Events:

November 16 & 17: Fall Fabulous Soup Sale - Soup made by Jim Glownia & Crew November 23: Christmas Sale - The Gift Shop has been receiving many beautiful holiday decorations, but more will be welcome. Please bring them before November 21.

December 8: Christmas Cookie Ingathering: Boxes of cookies will be made and delivered

to our shut-ins.

Bundles for Babies:

Baby items are received in the Gift shop and taken to Cornerstone. Diapers are always needed, but any infant items are welcomed.

Threads of Hope: Linens, especially towels and bedding are needed for the refugees and those that have lost all their household goods in fires. This is a nondenominational ministry that receives requests for household items only if they have a voucher from a social worker or church staff member. Questions - call Carol Siock (835-2105).

Please deposit your Dash receipts in the bag on the Gift Shop door. We hope to have an update on the amount we've received next month.

There are NO Vestry meetings during July and August.

As of July 31, 2013, $694,829.70 has been received in actual donations, or 93.5% of our goal of $743,126 from 236 "Let Us Arise and Build" commitments.
