PRAY FOR OUR SICK “... touch only the tassel on his cloak,
and as many as touched it were healed.” -Mark 6:56
NOTE: Those in bold were added this week.
Dear Jesus, Divine Physician and Healer of the sick, we turn to you in this time of illness. O dearest com-forter of the troubled, alleviate our worry and sorrow with your gentle love, and grant us the grace and strength to accept this burden. Dear God, we place our worries in your
hands. We place our sick under your care and humbly ask that you restore your servant to health again. Above all, grant us the grace to acknowledge your will and know that whatever you do, you do for the love of us. Amen.

REFLECTION DECEMBER 11, 2016 3rd SUNDAY OF ADVENT "The blind regain their sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised." Jesus has quite a résumé. When asked whether or not he is the long awaited Messiah, Jesus replies with this list of his credentials as proof of his position. These signs and wonders speak volumes, to be sure. But perhaps the most interesting line on the list is his concluding one, "the poor have the good news proclaimed to them." Why does he count this among his litany of miracles? What is so remarkable about sharing good news? Perhaps Jesus included this element of his work--the preaching of good news--to remind his followers that the physical healings were not the ultimate goal of his mission. Rather, the spiritual healing that comes from hearing the good news of salvation is what Jesus was really about. The "poor"--which in a sense means all of us sinners, trapped by the poverty of the sins that enslave us--are freed by Jesus' message of a loving God who wants to bring us into his kingdom. Our poverty is erased by his richness. His mercy "undoes" our sin and we are invited to become the children of God who share in the glories of his heavenly abode. Sometimes it's tempting to just want the visible miracles. But the invisible ones--the conversions that take place in the silence of the human heart--are truly the more important works of God. Such interior transformation is what leads us to eternal life; even a physical cure won't last for eternity--death still comes at some point. But the really good news is that this miracle of conversion is available to all of us. And this season of Advent is the perfect time to let God work his miracles in our hearts.

BIBLE VS. CELL PHONE
What would happen if we treated our Bible like we treat our cell phone?
╬ What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?
╬ What if we flipped through it several times a day?
╬ What if we turned back to get it if we forgot it?
╬ What if we used it to receive messages from the text?
╬ What if we treated it like we couldn’t live without it?
╬ What if we gave it to our kids as gifts?
╬ What if we used it when we traveled?
╬ What if we used it in case of emergency?
This is something to make you go ..hmm...where IS my Bible? Oh, and one more thing. Unlike our cell phones, we don’t have to worry about our Bible being disconnected. Why? Jesus already paid the bill.

KEEP CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS
THE GIVING TREE
Please select an angel from our Giving Tree. There are trees in each of our churches. So if all the angels are gone from one, you may still be able to participate by selecting an angel from the other. The angel will have some hints as to whom it is for (a child, an adult, a boy or a girl), and therefore you’ll know the appropriate store to get a gift card from. Once you’ve purchased the gift card, please put the card and angel, in an envelope, writting the name of the church the angel is from on the outside, and drop in the collection basket. Thank you.
