Operation Simple Sunday

A pastor friend and I planned in advance to meet for

lunch to discuss the Will Graham Celebration. We

decided on 12 noon and each locked it in on our

respective calendars. When I became aware of an

important meeting I needed to attend that would hurry

our lunch meeting, I suggested to him that we move

our meeting forward by a half hour. He informed me

that he had a previously scheduled commitment that

would make it hard for him to make it. Therefore we

settled on a compromise time. Both of us needed to

‘give’ some so that we could accomplish our purpose

and stay true to other priorities as well.

On Sunday, June 11, all of us will be ‘giving’ some so

that the whole church can benefit. Every FBC family

will be adjusting its Sunday Morning routine in order

to help the larger body. Thank you! Thank you, early

risers, for backing up your Sunday School time to

accommodate this change. Thank you, second Sunday

School attenders, for your willingness to hold your

class meeting now before the Worship Service.

This new Simple Sunday schedule will provide much

needed help and relief to many of our pre-school,

children and student teachers. It will improve the age-

grading and thus the teaching environment for our

younger ages. We’re also thankful that we can lessen

the time our campus patrol team serves behind the

scenes. On the new schedule we’ll enjoy gathering at

the same time for Sunday School at 8:45 AM and

proceeding together for Worship at 10:00 AM.

Our hope is for all of us to embrace this change for the

good of all with enthusiasm and hope. By simplifying

Sunday Morning we enhance many of our ministries

and encourage those serving in them. We anticipate a

renewed energy and zeal for our mission – Glorifying

God by Knowing Christ and Making Him Known.

Thank you, church family!

Cecil Sanders

Our church campus will house 150-170 students and adult

chaperones for lodging and meals (twice daily). This effort

to impact our ‘Judea’ requires church wide participation.

Regardless of the amount of time you and your family can

contribute, we have a place for you. Please stop by the

“Wired 2017” table to peruse the missions opportunity

board job openings.

Students: Please turn into the church your medical

release form and a copy of your insurance card.

150th Anniversary Celebration The Alabama Baptist published an article celebrating our

150 Anniversary. It was in last week’s publication on

page 9. We have a few extra copies in the Worship Center

Foyer if you would like to see it.

The Preschool & Children’s Department will be hosting

theme nights on Wednesday Nights during the months of

June & July. These special nights are for children ages 3 to

5th Grade. Please make plans to join us each week!
