Prayer of Confession Deacon Tom Denbow, Liturgist
God of compassion,
in Jesus Christ you reveal the light of your glory,
but we turn away, distracted by our own plans.
We confess that we speak when we should listen,
and act when we should wait.
Forgive our aimless enthusiasms.
Grant us wisdom to live in your light
and to follow in the way of your beloved Son,
Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven!
Thanks be to God.

Sermon Dazzling Rev. Bill Hudson
Affirmation of Faith: The Nicene Creed the Council of Nicaea in AD 325
Let us confess our faith.
We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary
and became truly human.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.

RESPOND
Having heard God’s word proclaimed, we offer music, prayers, and a portion of the financial resources we have received. Thank you for your generous response to God’s gracious love!
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Invitation to the Table Isaiah 6:1-3
I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lofty;
and the hem of his robe filled the temple.
Seraphs were in attendance above him;
each had six wings:
with two they covered their faces,
and with two they covered their feet,
and with two they flew.
And one called to another and said:
“Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts;
the whole earth is full of his glory.”

Great Prayer of Thanksgiving
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them to the Lord.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

. . . who cover their faces as they sing:
Sanctus John Merbecke
All are invited to sing.
We give thanks for Jesus Christ . . .
. . . Great is the mystery of faith:
Christ has died,
Christ is risen,
Christ will come again.
Now let us share in your Holy Spirit . . .
. . . to the glory of your holy name.
Amen.
The Lord's Prayer:
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done, on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors;
and lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever,
Congregational Amen McNeil Robinson
All are invited to sing.

Children’s Zoom Sunday Meets Update
Sunday Zoom!! 2/7, we had a very exciting Sunday Zoom Meet with seven young disciples.
Rev. Bill joined us this Sunday to talk about Jesus’ many parables. The kids enjoyed listening to
his knowledge of the history behind the parable we focused on for the 7th,, which was the Good
Samaritan. (Luke 10:25-37) Mrs. Smekal led us through the study of this parable and in our
discussion the kids connected the racial discrimination of the Samaritan people to our present-day
struggle with racial injustice in this country. As we left, we challenged ourselves to find a way to
spread “Kindness” to others, even during this time where we need to be distanced. Kaori Hongo
Youth Tone Chimes Choir (YTCC)
This week we were able to meet in-person. We had a nice fire-pit going during the rehearsal and
the kids were able to take turns warming their hands, while the others practiced their parts. We
added an extra chime for a ringer to ring and he was so excited he was going to ring three bells!!
After rehearsal they ran around and played in the snow to warm up! Kaori Hongo
Youth Choir Update
On February 8 we had our second Virtual Youth Choir Rehearsal!! We met for an hour and
warmed up with some "sitting" warm-up exercises and short songs. During our time together we
did a short worship service on the story of Mary and Martha. The choristers led the readings and
acted out the parts of Mary and Martha. The discussion led to asking ourselves if we were more
like Mary (the dreamer) or more like Martha (the doer)!! During our rehearsal we practiced
recording ourselves with our phones and sending them in. There are still many things to learn,
but we are trying new things and enjoying the discoveries we have along the way. We are looking
forward to singing together and growing spiritually through song and word. Kaori Hongo
Jonathan Moyer plays live-streamed concert at Christ Church Cathedral, Cincinnati,
Sunday, February 14, 4:00pm
Haec si contingunt Terris, quae gaudia Caelo? These words from Girolamo Diruta’s seminal treatise
Il Transilvano of 1593 aptly describe the dazzling sonority of Christ Church Cathedral’s remarkable
chapel organ by C.B. Fisk. “If on earth one enjoys such sweet harmony afforded human ears by so
much artifice, what joy and delight ought there to be in heaven over the angelic choirs and blessed
spirits.” This program brings together contrasting repertoire from across centuries, traditions, and
geographies, representing both the terrestrial and celestial experience through intimate expressions
of prayer, exultant hymns of praise, lively dances, and works of contrapuntal ingenuity.
The link for the live-stream can be found at the cathedral web-page: https://cincinnaticathedral.com/concerts/

“Reparation is a process of remembering, restoring, repairing, and redressing injustices for the purpose
of reconciliation and human restitution. For Christians, this is a particularly appropriate ministry.
Reparations involve an acknowledgement of beneficial gains at the expense of others or harm done to others
and includes confession, repentance, forgiveness, and renewal.”- PCUSA, 2004 Report of the Taskforce to
Study Reparations
Join our own Cassie Denbow, Rev. Anna Sutterisch with the Office of Congregations and Christian
Formation of the Episcopal Diocese of Cleveland and Jacklyn Bartkowski, all members of
reparations now cleveland, in a conversation on the historical precedence, and moral imperative,
of reparations as a pathway for healing and a more honest American future, Sunday, February
21st. Sunday’s discussion will begin with an introduction to reparations as a framework for
disrupting and repairing the ongoing violence of white supremacy, an overview of the history and
context for reparations in the US and globally including takeaways from the 2004 PCUSA
TaskForce on Reparations, an exploration of the distinction between reparations and charity, and
introduction to ways to become involved in reparations work here in Cleveland, within the context
of our faith communities, and across the country. At least 15 minutes will be left for questions and
the beginning of a discussion on what the reparations movement could mean to the Church of the
Covenant.

Deacon’s Provide Food Donations for U.H. Staff
Starting this past November, Deacons came up with the idea to provide lunches to support
hospital workers at University Hospitals, located directly across from the Church of the Covenant.
Box lunches from Stone Oven were provided and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive.
In December, Deacons voted again to support the medical staff and provided Luna Cookies,
festively decorated for the season, to the Rainbow Babies and Children’s ICU day and night shift
workers. Again, staff were most appreciative that we were thinking of them. In January, Deacons
decided to support the Covid-19 ICU nightshift at UH by providing wraps from Falafel Café.
