The revised plans now involve 1,100 new homes, a new link road, a sports centre, business units, a primary school and riverside park. The proposals have been a decade in the making and have now resurfaced with the latest consultation exercise at the college this month. Reaseheath principal Meredydd David told The Dabber: “There will now be a further exercise in the sum- mer and then all the respons- es will be taken on board. “The feedback we have re- ceived so far has been gener- ally positive. “There have been some concerns about the need for additional houses and about traffic issues.” But developers say the plans will include a relief road on the A51 around The Green, and a new ‘distributor road’ through the site between Wa- terlode and the A51 that will help reduce traffic. The new sports centre, with all weather pitches, would be available for community use. Mr David said that the col- lege needed to sell the land in order to fund the expansion of the successful agricultural col- lege after Government fund- ing for the project was cut. He added: “The college has grown significantly over the last eight or nine years and it is vital that we make sure our facilities can cope with that. “We are grateful to the peo- ple who have turned up to the consultation events and we will reflect on their opinions.” Email your views to [email protected]

LOCAL students have been getting ready for work with placements at Nantwichcompanies. The entry level students from South Cheshire College-have been taking part in the Ready to Work programme, a scheme that aims to bridge the gap between education and the workplace. Some 25 students are taking part in the initiative, teaming up with companies including Buildbase, Sainsbury’s and the restaurant at De Vere’s Wychwood Park in Nantwich. The college’s Carol Thelwall,

JUST THE JOB: Ian Woodvine, of Buildbase, Nantwich, with students Andrew Hart and Michael Crookham.

who set up the scheme, said: “It is a fantastic opportunity for our students to gain valu-able experience in the work-place. “We are very grateful to all the local employers who have taken our students on once again this year and for giving them this opportunity.” Entry Level courses are for students with learning dif-ficulties and disabilities. Carol added: “If students im-press during their placements it could lead to permanent em-ployment in the future which would be a real boost.”

RESIDENTS are up in arms over plans to build a concrete production facil-ity in Wrenbury, fearing their village will be ruined. Concrete Panel Systems Ltd - part of Graham Heath Con-struction Ltd - has submitted an application to build a 21 by 70-metre shed for casting con-crete products together with an additional storage area on the former Old Creamery Site off Station Road. Residents from both Wren-bury and Aston have fiercely opposed the plans, citing concerns over an increase of HGVs using roads they feel are already overcrowded. There are also fears over noise and dust pollution near the

village and school. But the company insists the development would create 10 new jobs and adhere to strict regulations if approved. “I am all for creating jobs and wealth in the local com-munity but the local council has to ensure the infrastruc-ture is there to support a project and not to create extra misery for locals who have to endure the noise, vibration, danger and terrible road con-ditions resulting in such an increase in HGV traffic,” said Jonathan Cork, of Plantation Close, Aston. Concrete Panel Systems Ltd say there was already permission for 11 industrial units on the site, resulting

in a minimum of 76 vehicle movements a day with this proposal equating to 52 less than permitted. They said that strict dust and noise mitigation meas-ures will be in place and, as required by law, will be subject to a separate environ-mental permit issued by the local authority. The majority of works will be indoors with cement managed in a completely sealed sys-tem, all waste water will be filtered to a neutral pH level, and noise impact 200 metres from the works, allowing for distance attenuation and the effects of the acoustic fencing around the perimeter of the site is 47 decibels.

NANTWICH’S Brine Leas School has been successful in securing tickets to this year’s special Diamond Jubilee Com-monwealth Day Observance in Westminster Abbey on March 12. Hundreds of schools and youth groups applied for tickets this year and Brine Leas has been successful in winning 20 tickets following the creativity of Time Capsule entries from our students. Last year the Royal Com-monwealth Society asked schools in all corners of the UK to take part in a special Jubilee Time Capsule compe-tition to win tickets. The Commonwealth Day Ob-servance is a unique occasion where the cultural diversity of the 54 countries is celebrated.

SOME of Nantwich’s unsung heroes have been recognised in the Cat Com-munity Awards in a gala event at Richmond Village. Mayor of Nantwich Arthur Moran, Mayor of Crewe Roy Cartlidge & Mayor of Chesh-ire East Roger West, were all in attendance. The local radio station asked for nominations of individuals, groups and organisations that have volunteered their time to raise money for charity. The Fundraiser Of The Year award went to Ann Aspinall, who organises the Turn Nant-wich Pink campaign in aid of Cancer Research. Olwyn Payton, of Nantwich, was named Volunteer Of The Year after dedicating much of her spare time to the Wingate Centre in Wrenbury, Rich-mond Village in Nantwich and the RSPCA. The Achievement Of The Year award went to Emma Timmis, who last year com-pleted 60 marathons in 60 days in South Africa. Emma works as an RSPCA

inspector and was raising money for Stapley Grange Wildlife Centre and Cattery in Nantwich. The Young Persons Commu-nity award was scooped byDavid Lewis, Kameron Brown-Ford and Oliver Wil-son, who are all fire cadets. They were nominated by their teacher Mr Sean O’Neill from Malbank, who said: “I particularly think their recog-nition is worthwhile generally

as it puts into perspective that our youth are not all the idle hoodies that the media portray them as, which as a teacher I can vouch first hand is a label most don’t deserve.” Runners up included Keith Cafferty, who organises the Nantwich Fun Day and the St George’s Day event, Paul Simpson, of Nantwich’s family history society and the man-ager of Nantwich Town FC Jimmy Quinn.

A NANTWICH business has breathed new life into one of the town’s historic buildings. The Madison Spa and Renew Clinic has moved into the old Kitern Medical Centre on Hospital Street in a £250,000 refurbishment. The new centre includes 10 treatment rooms and two large relaxation areas for beauty and aesthetics, as well as consulting and treatment rooms for clients having cos-metic procedures. Karen said ‘The interior design of the building has allowed the warmth of the original brick features to be retained and enhanced by cutting edge contemporary design, with clean lines and a modern colour scheme. “We feel we can offer a unique luxury experience on a scale previously unseen in the town, including full disabled access and twin treatment room.” For more details visit www.madisonspa.co.uk.

The Grass IS Greener at Wyche!!

After years without a real grass field, the chil-dren at Wyche Primary School & Nursery are delighted that phase 2 to develop the school grounds has now come to fruition. During Feb-ruary half term a large patch of Astroturf was ripped up and replaced with lovely green grass!

Heather Sherwood, head teacher said “We be-lieve that children need first hand experiences in order to develop their imagination. It is far better to feel the wind on your face than just looking through the window at it. Learning in the outdoors stimulates the children’s senses which is reflected in their writing. All the chil-dren are very excited about the field and we are looking forward to the grand opening at the start of next term”

Nursery Places Available!

Did you know every 3 and 4 year old is entitled to 15 hours of free nursery provision per week in term time!

We provide a rich and varied selection of activi-ties, both indoors and out, to stimulate and en-thuse your child. With places for up to 52 chil-dren, with a maximum of 26 attending each ses-sion. We offer morning or afternoon sessions, 5 days a week or full day sessions for children en-tering reception in the September of that year.

NANTWICH residents are be-ing urged to do their bit in the campaign to reduce waste. Cheshire East Council wants to hear from people who can ‘empower’ local residents on slashing waste, home com-posting and making the most of leftover food. Bob Edge, of Wettenhall, has been working on the waste reduction scheme for more than a year. He said: “I have some 15 years’ experience of compost-ing and I am an active sup-porter of waste reduction. “I have recently acquired much more knowledge

through Cheshire East Coun-cil’s training and have learned from the many experienced people I have met. “I am now thoroughly enjoy-ing passing on this knowledge to others. “The opportunity to become a volunteer on the Cheshire project came about as I had a growing desire to work with the public and had realised that I was too old for a career change.” Each volunteer receives training and travel expenses. To get involved with the pro-ject call the council on 0300 1235011.

Cash boost for WingateTHE Wingate Centre in Wrenbury have received a boost following donations from local businesses. The charity provides gym-nastics training to local chil-dren and adults with disabili-ties, along with kid’s respite holidays. During a season over one thousand children with mul-tiple disabilities will visit the centre for a residential break. Staff at Nantwich HSBC are regular supporters of the cen-tre and this time arranged a branch Christmas raffle which raised £385. The centre’s Chris Bridgman visited the branch to receive a cheque from their latest fundraising event. He said: “HSBC have been loyal supporters of the Win-gate Centre over the past few years and I am delighted to visit the branch to receive such a wonderful cheque, we

appreciate their commitment to the centre.” Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire David Briggs also visited the centre last week to view the results of his current initia-tive. The charity has just benefit-ed from a week of volunteered work under his SkillShare initiative. The centre was linked up with Crewe company Con-struction Linx, whose manag-er Gareth Williams visited the centre and so was impressed that he volunteered a full week of work by his staff. He sent in a team of decora-tors to revamp the interior of the centre before it opened for the season and a team of workers to spruce up the grounds. The Wingate Trust’s Mr Bridgman said: “It has made a tremendous difference to the centre.”

NANTWICH Rotarians have handed over a donation of almost £600 to the charity ShelterBox. Director Chris Warham said: “The generous donation will buy a complete ShelterBox, which will provide a family of up to 10 with the shelter and other vital equipment they need to survive after a disas-ter and to enable them to start rebuilding their lives.” For over 11 years, Shelter-Box has provided immedi-ate humanitarian aid after earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, landslides, hurricanes, ty-phoons, volcanoes and armed conflict across the globe. The Rotary Club of Nantwich has also welcomed its fourth lady member Nicola Tooke, a care home advisor at Rich-mond Village. Nicola said: “I’ve been in-

volved in the local Nantwich community for many years and joining the Rotary Club will give me the opportunity to support some of the many wonderful fundraising projects they run for local, national and international charities.” Rotary president and local solicitor Richard Morgan-Wynne said: “We are delight-ed to welcome Nicola to our club; women now represent 10 per cent of our member-ship, and there will always be a warm welcome for all new members. “Rotary has supported Shel-terBox since it’s inception in 2000; it is a wonderful charity which has responded to al-most 200 natural or manmade disasters in over 75 differ-ent countries, and provided lifesaving aid for well over one million people.”

AN injured red squirrel has been released back into the wild after being nursed back to health at Nantwich’s RSPCA wildlife centre. The protected mammal was found in a middle of a busy road after being hit by a car. It was unable to walk or move and was taken to the Stapeley Grange centre. It took the squirrel nearly two months of ‘bed rest’ and painkillers to recuperate, before he was released again in woodlands. RSPCA inspector Martyn Fletcher said: “He didn’t move out of his box at first, just poked his head nervously. “Then, as quick as light-ning, he dashed out and ran straight up the biggest, tallest pine tree around.”

A DIVERSE range of traders will get a taste of business thanks to the Youth Market. Steve Minshull hopes his new scheme will attract bud-ding entrepreneurs into one of the oldest form of commerce. The first Youth Market takes place at Minshulls Garden Centre on Saturday, March 24 before moving to the Civic Hall on April 14 (10am-4pm). Among young bakers, artists and gift sellers taking the opportunity, 26-year-old Alex Simpson will be showcasing his craft design.

A NANTWICH letting agent says demand for rental prop-erties is outstripping supply. “Increasing demand for rental properties is creating a new investment opportunity for first time landlords,” said managing director of Location Location Wesley Heraty. “Figures from the Asso-ciation of Residential Letting agents show 55% of letting agents believe demand is now outstripping supply.”

Our guide to the best of the festival

Credit Card Hotline 0844 888 9991 Chester Tourist Information 01244 402385

Welcome to the 16th Nantwich Jazz and Blues Festival. It is amazing that this small festival started back in 1997 withjust one headline event - George Melly, who sadly is no longer with us. There were also a couple of dozen ‘around the town’ events. The Festival has now grown into a date, that is firmly fixed into thousands of peoples diaries.

Every year we try to introduce new events to the Festival, and this year we are running a Family Fun and Music Day on the Monday inthe town centre from 10.30am. At lunch time “Katy Stotter” (supported Beyonce on the UK leg of her tour) will be appearing on ournew stage supplied by local company Blitz Fireworks. After Katy, the sensational “Cavern Beatles” will be appearing. They are one ofthe best Beatles tribute bands in Europe, they fill theatres all over the UK and abroad, and we are staging the show free of charge. Allthe bars and pubs are staging more music on the Monday than ever, so come along with the kids and have a great day out. Wristbandswill be on sale as usual from the square, The Crown Hotel and The Civic Hall, which allows admittance to see over a hundred live actsperforming over the weekend starting on Friday evening this year.

The headline events once again have something for everybody. Starting at The Civic Hall on Thursday evening, Scott Mathews and hisband will be performing for you, he is a regular on the Glastonbury main stage, and on Friday the James Taylor Quartet will be playinghis acid jazz and soul funk music. At the Crown Hotel we have The Spikedrivers, one of the best 3 piece blues bands in the country;Saturday on the square sees the first free concert of the weekend in the shape of The GMP Big Swing Band to get the day off to agreat start. In the evening we have the man who will show us the way to Amarillo, Tony Christie, who is sure to be a sell out. OnSunday at The Civic, as part of his UK tour, we have the amazing Wilko Johnson with his amazing machine gun guitar riffs. On Mondayas well as the family music day, Jacqui Dankworth will be appearing at the “Cathedral of Cheshire” St Marys Church. She appeared afew years ago at the Civic Hall and we think it was one of best performances we have ever had at the Jazz Festival. Monday evening is atotally new style of music to the Festival, we have The Beat performing their amazing 80s Ska and Reggae music; the band still togetherand touring all round Europe and the UK.

Our local hostelries will be providing a huge programme of music and entertainment throughout the festival with wristbandadmittance for adults, and children under 14 admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Wristbands this year will be £6.00 each. Please be aware it is the venues in the programme that support this event and make it happen, please give your support to thesevenues.

I hope you all have a great time at this year’s festival and we look forward to seeing you over the Easter weekend.

THE town centre will be buzzing with a host of free music and entertainment on Easter Monday. Performing on the town square will be Katy Shotter (pictured), The Cavern Beatles and Zoot Serious. A soulful vocalist, Shotter sup-ported Beyonce on her UK tour and boasts Jay Z among her many celebrity fans. Family activities will start from 10.30am featuring street entertain-ers, face painting, balloon making and an Easter egg hunt, along with children’s music and theatre groups.

We’ve come a long wayTHE man behind the festival has spoken about how things have changed since its first days as a one-off event featuring George Melly. Organiser Phil Martin said: “As the festival has grown over the years, there is more and more work to do all year round, but booking the artist has got easier. “Some of the biggest agencies in the country contact us now, as in the early days we struggled to get them to even speak to us on the telephone. “The festival is now very structured as to how it all works. “Three months after the last festival or sometimes before, we book the headline acts, and then we start having meetings with the various authorities to ensure we do everything correctly within the law. “Then around November time we start to book the ‘around the town’ bands etc. “With over a hundred shows and around 700 musicians it can be a logistical nightmare. “We always attempt to get the brochure published by mid-January, but we have never achieved it, one year maybe.

“Once it is published we then have to distrib-ute all Shropshire, Cheshire and North Wales, which is a job we do ourselves, so we know it is going to the right places. “This year we have built a brand new website. “It is far better than the old one; we now have the history of the jazz festival pages, so peo-ple can look back over the years. It is getting thousands of new hits. “We now have 15 ticket vendors around the country selling our tickets for the headline acts, which is probably the biggest financial worry we have, as these shows give the festi-val the creditability and the revenue to carry on each year. “People are coming from all over the UK now and the festival is one of the biggest town festivals in the country. “I think this year’s event will be bigger than ever with the line-up we have got and the new Monday event which we have got support from DEFRA, a matching fifty-fifty grant to improve events and sustain them for future years to come.” What do you think of the festival? The Roughneck Riot – White Horse – Friday, April 6

Possibly the must-see band of the town gigs, this 6-piece generate a

steam-rolling wall of melodic noise that hits you like a right hook. Combining all the right elements, from Pogues, Flogging Molly and Levellers to John-ny Cash and The Clash, this is contemporary hardcore folk driven by youth and boundless energy. James Taylor Quartet – Civic Hall –

Friday April 6 This British four-piece jazz funk band

Once championed by both the NME and John Peel when arriving in 1985, the JTQ have earned respect for being creative and achiev-ing a special connection with audiences.

Sway – The Malbank – Satur-day, April 7. Sure to be the starting point for

late-night revellers, expect classic tracks out of the last four decades from the likes of Elbow, Snow Patrol, The Beatles, The Jam and Coldplay.

High praise for Cleo THE first lady of Jazz Dame Cleo Laine will perform in Nantwich after stepping in at short notice to cover for her famous daughter. Carving her own formidable reputation in the genre, Jacqui Dankworth was set to appear on Easter Monday. However with an opportunity of a role in a new film Jacqui’s leg-endary mother decided to ensure that fans were not let down. “Jacqui has been offered a role in the new film Les Miserables and will now be filming that week-

end, a massive opportunity that she should not miss,” explained organiser Phill Martin. “However, her mother, the world famous jazz singer Dame Cleo Laine, has most kindly agreed to step in for her at this event. “We are very excited to have a jazz legend performing at the fes-tival but very disappointed that Jacqui will not be appearing and we look forward to her appearing with us next year.” Having played everywhere from English dance halls to London’s

Royal Albert Hall, Carnegie to the Blue Note Cafe, Dame Cleo has also appeared on stages around the world, from Broadway to the West End. “This is a wonderful opportunity to hear one of the greatest jazz singers of our time,” added Mr Martin. Dame Cleo will be performing at St Mary’s. Reverend Peter Chantry said: “The jazz festival brings all sorts of benefits and a lot of life into the town. We are only too glad to get involved.”

Nantwich is a small market town with lots of specialist independent retailers and we are proud of it, but if it contin-ues to expand the town centre will inevitably change too and we will end up with a high street like every other town. The developers are only here to make money, and when they have finished overde-veloping Nantwich, they will

SirsI too am very worried about the rate of developement. These developers, with coun-cil and government represent-atives, seem intent on destroy-ing rural communities. Apparently they believe we need these extra houses and the people, along with the extra pub, shops, ‘promised’. Would they want them on their doorstep, disturbing the lifestyle that they have actu-ally chosen - I think not.

viders ie. GPs, dentists, opti-cians will welcome this move as private business enterpris-es due to the potential income generation. I wish to question how the acute hospital will cope with a population increase when ac-tivity levels are over perform-ing and budgetary allocations are diminishing. The current road network cannot cope with the volume of traffic flow through the

town out to the motorway. Given the area prides itself on being a rural market town how will the council manage future dissatisfaction due to the inevitable increase in transport congestion levels and potential decline in air quality due to pollution. Isn’t there already a develop-ment at Wychwood where the developers have halted build-ing due to lack of demand? There is also a site in Crewe

with half built flats which spoils the aesthetics of the area. We need to concentrate on the completion of these sites before embarking on other developments and losing the very nature of the area as be-ing a ‘rural market town’. If the councillors are not careful they will ruin this beautiful neck of the woods.Kindest regardsMrs O’Connor

move on to somewhere else. In a morning Peter Destapel-egh Way is at a standstill. Another 500 houses means at least 500 more cars. Our schools are full and our medical centre is already under too much pressure. There is only a shortage in Nantwich of bungalows. There’s more new build 4-bed and 3-storey townhouses than you can shake a stick at!Dorothy SmartTalbot Way, Nantwich.

The infrastructure will not support this extra burden. Apparently we are told by Mr Muller that the £6K that developers have to pay local councils for every house they build will be spent improving the local area, hmmmmm... Change is inevitable, how-ever change on a grand scale and forced upon people is not and should not be allowed to happen! RegardsIrene Williams

Come and see us at Nantwich Outdoor Market - Tuesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays!

NOT only the familiar Greater Spotted Wood-pecker but also Green and Lesser Spotted Woodpeck-er have been seen around Airman’s Grave (Shrew-bridge Road). A female Lesser Spotted Woodpecker used to visit dead trees on the corner of the car park but since they have been removed, it has disappeared unfortunately. I have seen Spotted Fly-catcher here and at other sites around Urban Nantwich including Brookfield Park, St Mary’s Church and Barony Park. Unfortunately this species is in serious decline and to find one breeding locally now is a bonus. There is a record of a female Red Breasted Merganser on the River Weaver which favored the area around Queen’s Drive to Nantwich Lake although it didn’t linger for long. Mill Island is an excellent place to see Grey Wagtails and they have bred at this location. A pair of Mandarin Ducks (pictured) has taken up residence here since late 2011.

Also you may spot a Grey Heron standing sentinel on the bank looking for fish in the shallows. A Bittern was seen here on the River behind the old Brickwork briefly. This secretive Heron, normally a bird found in large reed beds, can turn up in unusual places. These records often relate to lost continental individuals looking for a suitable habi-tat to spend the winter. In the mid-winter period Pink Footed Geese have been seen flying over. The field at Barony Park is good for gulls especially early morning from late summer onwards.

Birds coming off the roost from Hurlstone Reservoir congregate here before moving on in all directions looking for areas in which to feed.

Not only Merlin, our small-est resident bird of prey, (pictured) but Woodcock have been seen around Marsh Lane. Both records relate to birds passing through and neither lingered. The area around Brine Lea’s Playing Fields has thrown up some exciting and remarkable sightings dues to observer coverage from a local birder whose garden backs on to it.Summer Migrants such as Ring Ouzel, Yellow Wagtail, Wheatear, Little Ringed Plover have been seen on the playing field. A Grasshopper Warbler was heard reeling then seen in a pit hole at the back of the field. Flyovers have included Osprey Merlin Honey Buzzard and Skeins of Pink Footed Geese. Not only that but both Quail and Black Throated Diver have been heard calling flying over at night. In some winters Brambling has been seen in his garden amongst the Chaffinch Flock. Records of Mediterranean Gull on the field probably re-late to birds seen at Nantwich Lake nearby. There have been at least two records. It’s worth mentioning that nearby on Peter Desta-pleigh Way I have seen Barn and Tawny Owls hunting at dusk and a pair of Little Owls early one morning. NEXT MONTH: Mark focuses on Manor Road.

Local birder of 20 years, Mark Stubbs continues his insight into birdlife around urban Nantwich

THE original Ford Ka caused a real stir when it first ap-peared on the road – and the Ka is doing it all again. The popular model is one that Ford has been very hesi-tant to replace and it’s easy to understand why. The car has the highest loyalty levels of any product thanks to a 12-year produc-tion run for the first gen-eration model and an iconic shape that if loved, it was really loved. Nearly one and a half million examples have been sold, half a million of those in the UK, where the car has been the ‘citycar’ segment leader since 2000. The MK2 model doesn’t really have its predecessor’s love-it-or-hate-it Marmite ap-peal, but it’s unquestionably a better car. Ford have developed it as a joint venture with Fiat, so this model rolls off the same pro-duction lines in Tychy, Poland as the more daringly-styled Fiat 500, sharing its engines and the same platform design. Currently promoting the Ford KA Studio, G Blackhurst

and Son of Whitchurch are lo-cal Ford and Renault dealers having served the community for over 73 years. Still a family run business of four generations, they pride themselves in being totally professional, reliable and offering excellent customer service. “We offer excellent deals on

the extensive range of new Ford cars and vans and qual-ity and value on low mileage second hand vehicles that have been fully valeted and prepared for sale,” explained MD David Blackhurst. Their after sales team offers a free delivery and collection service, free courtesy cars and vans while your vehicle is in

for repair and a full quotation on any work prior to comple-tion, backed with a 12 month warranty. For more details, including information on service plans, their Motabilty Scheme and ‘Saveon Tyre’ brand, give them a call on 01948 662237 (Sales) 01948 662257 (Service) or visit www.gblackhusrt.com

The former Macclesfield, Port Vale and Walsall stopper has signed a two-year extension to his contract despite offers from clubs in higher divisions. “He’s the best keeper in the league,” continued Quinn. “I want to go into next sea-son with the basis of a settled and familiar side.”

NANTWICH cage fighter Anya Hynes has battled her way to victory in a national competition. Anya, 22, who works at the town’s Sainsburys store, won the Combat Challenge Cage Fighting Championship. Anya has already made a name for herself in the world of martial arts. A keen Taekwando enthu-siast, Anya won the silver medal in the British National Taekwando Championships in November. And she has now made her mark in the world of cage fighting by winning the first female cage fighting champi-onship in Bradford. Anya got involved in martial arts after suffering cancer as a child. Her illness left her weak and it was kickboxing that gave her strength and confidence. Sainsbury’s spokesman Olwyn Payton said: ‘Anya never ceases to amaze all her colleagues. “She trains continually and

JIMMY Quinn has challenged his Nantwich Town side to end the sea-son on a high with silver-ware and a top 10 finish. The Dabbers boss is adamant he doesn’t want this campaign to fizzle out with plans to have a real push at promotion next year. After an impressive 3-0 win at League Two Macclesfield Town, only Stalybridge Celtic stand in their way of lifting the Cheshire Senior Cup for the second time in four years. And despite too many draws, Nantwich can still force their way through a congested mid-table and secure a decent league finish. “It’s nice to get to the final because it keeps the season alive,” explained Quinn. “We’ve had a great FA Cup run, stabilised in the League after struggling last year and have a great nucleus here. “But I’ve been wary that this season is going to fizzle out and that can’t happen because we want to take momentum into next year.“Everyone wants to play in a(cont. on page 23)
