WHY SHOULD YOU GIVE TO

THE DEVELOPMENT GAP?WE BELIEVE IN THE PROJECT ITSELF AND THINK ONCE WE EXPLAIN IT YOU WILL TOO. THERE ARE MANY THINGS NECESSARY FOR THE SUCCESS OF THE PROJECT AND YOUR HELP WILL BE IMPORTANT TO US. HOWEVER THERE ARE ALSO MANY PERKS INVOLVED IN GIVING, SO LET'S TELL YOU ALL ABOUT IT:

Short SummaryThe Development Gap is a non-profit social enterprise that deals with international cooperation. We start with what we know which is the Manchester Parish in Jamaica and Belgium. Belgian volunteers will come here on holiday but also to work. We will export our cultural products to wherever we can in order to fundraise for the many projects we will get involved in such as the rehabilitation of mined lands, the creation of a summer school programme for children who often have access to none, helping to build parks and giving workshops and training for sustainable, ecologically aware small business development.

All of these goals fall under the Manchester Parish Development Committee's Local Sustainable Development Plan which in turn has taken its orders from the Jamaica Vision 2030 Plan. Under these plans Jamaican changemakers hope to achieve Developed Nation status for Jamaica by 2030 under sustainable and environmentally mindful conditions.

We're excited, you should be excited and you should be ready to get in on the fun! Scuba-diving clean-ups, wildlife rehabilitation, historical map-making and trail clearing... they don't sound like your average volunteering jobs, but they are much more involved than your average tourist activity! It's the golden ratio of charitable work, plus you get to stay with a host family for free and do not need to pay to volunteer like with most other organizations!

An investment in The Development Gap is an investment in Jamaica's future.

What We Need & What You GetThe Development Gap is most in need of Start-Up funding. As an international project we will need to travel. However more importantly as a social enterprise we will need to invest in merchandise, advertising, commissions and everyday business tools:

• Paying host families for the increased utility costs and food expenses.

• Office supplies, web-hosting and space rental. • Funding for specific projects such as summer school

programmes, beautification projects and team-building field trips.

What do you get?• A chance to be a part of positive change! • A place as an honorary careholder which means we will

keep you informed of all upcoming projects in the newsletter first.

• A lifelong Preferential Package that gives you first consideration for projects, events and sponsored activities that take place in Jamaica and Europe. This includes discount tickets to our annual gala's where silent auctions, fashion shows, internationally known reggae artists and delicious island-food and drink will feature as the perfect backdrop to a night of cultural exchange; also we will always find ways to thank our donors by sending out sponsored rewards, free crafts and products through a newsletter raffle! Who knows, you could even win a free weekend at a resort!

The ImpactGiving to The Development Gap means giving to a non-profit with a difference. As a social enterprise we hope to employ business concepts in the furthering of our projects and ideas. The organization wants to be able to sustain itself as an economic entity, thereby stimulating the economy of our immediate vicinity. However all funds are reinvested into new projects and initiatives, with the minimum going toward fundraising which sustains itself. We will have an impact because:

• By following specific guidelines of the nation's development plan, we will be accountable not only to our neighbours but to the nation itself.

$250 Tie-Breaker & Discounts Permanent honorary careholder recognition in our listings. Also, should we have problems coming to a decision in the organization on which grand project to undertake first, we will send out a newsletter poll to you which allows you to have a pivotal role in the outcome of the change we make! You also get discounts on all the products we distribute thanks to your donor card.

$500 Careholder Plaque & Discounts You will receive an "Honorary Careholder" plaque commemorating your generosity! You also receive discounts to come to our annual Gala as well as a discount on our products once you carry you donor card to our stalls.

$1,000 Discounts & Honorary Table You get a plaque, discount gala tickets, special discounts on our crafts and Jamaican products and a place at the head table of that year's Gala event!

• The PeaceCorps, GlobeAware, Projects Abroad, Doctors Without Borders and Habitat For Humanity do things like this everyday and have helped to shape the world in small countless ways. We are an international taskforce that hopes to be able to effect change wherever we can. We can do it with your help.

• We don't want to get caught up in the difficulty of chasing donors and grants for mere survival. We want to employ all means necessary in order to grow the project beyond our and your wildest dreams. Volunteers shouldn't have to pay to volunteer but there are costs that need to be met. In order to start a business that can address this problem, we need to have start-up money. We want to earn that money through the power of the idea itself. We want to know that others believe in it too!

Other Ways You Can HelpNot everyone can contribute money, and that's all right, there are so many other ways to help! Here's how:

• Share this page and other Development Gap social media outlets far and wide! Let everyone you know hear about it because the more outreach we have, the better our chances!

• If you can, print off our brochure and give them to those who you think would be interested in the project - even if they can't give money, time and enthusiasm are just as valuable!

$5,000 Careholder Status You get a place at the Quarterly Careholder table, honorary seating at the annual Gala, gift basket of crafts and Jamaican products, a permanent recognition of your generosity on the website and veto power over the Year-long project plan like all other board members.
