From the Minister... Except for on chips I rarely add salt. I know too much salt is

bad for you, but there are some things you may or may not know

about this wonderful mineral.

Salt is essential for muscle movement, including that of the

heart. Long distant runners like Britain’s double gold medalist

Mo Farah eat salty foods to avoid symptoms such as nausea and

muscle cramps. Hotter climates increase the need for salt

consumption. Salt is also necessary for the digestive tract to

function properly and for nerve cells to transmit their

messages. Salt is found in blood, sweat and of course tears. It is

used in flavouring, preserving, baking, curing meat and fish, and

processing other foods. It also de-ices roads and fertilizes soil!

The Bible says salt is good: “Salt is good for seasoning. But if it loses its flavour, how do you make it salty again? You must have

the qualities of salt among yourselves and live in peace with each other.” (Mark, ch.9, vs.50).

As you can see, we have a tough act to follow if we are to be the

salt of the earth! But we need to be the salt that the world so

desperately needs. So let's examine ourselves today and see if

we're flavouring the world the way we should.

In His Name & Service.

Our marriage is all about trust and understanding. She doesn't trust me and I don't understand her

One Sunday the minister announced to his congregation, “My good people, I have here in my hands three

sermons...... a £100 sermon that lasts five minutes; a £50 sermon that lasts fifteen minutes; and a £20 sermon

that lasts a full hour. Now, we'll take the collection and see which one I'll deliver.”

Why does the Queen use her dogs to repair her boilers? Because. . . . . . . . they are corgi registered!!

If people from Poland are called Poles, then why aren’t people from Holland called Holes?

To all those hardy souls who braved the weather, and visited our open garden, a big thank you.

We raised over £300.00. The sun shone and everyone had an

enjoyable afternoon, chatting, drinking tea and purchasing plants for their garden.

Once again, many thanks for your support.

…As Christians our

relationship is with all distinct

members of the Trinity. God is three persons, each person

is fully God, and there is one

God. The Holy Spirit is

therefore a person, an equal member of the Trinity and

Jesus makes a statement

about blaspheming against

Him (Matthew 12:31-32). There is a parallel meaning

between the power of the

wind and the mystery of His

presence (John 3:8) and His activity can be traced

throughout the Bible. He was

certainly active before the

day of Pentecost and in the

Old Testament is usually identified with empowering

people with special gifts

(Exodus 31:1-5).

We are living in the age of

the Spirit and He plays a part

in salvation by bringing us

into union with Christ. At conversion believers can

have a real experience of the

Holy Spirit and Paul’s

conversion is one of the most remarkable of all times

(Acts 9:1-22).

From someone who set

about to destroy the Church

he became the most powerful advocate of the

Christian faith. The Spirit

was also responsible for

giving Paul visions (Acts 16:6-9) and warnings

(Acts 21:4).

Being filled with the Spirit is

not a one-off experience and

if we want to, we can go on

receiving Him in our lives

(Luke 11:13). Conversion can be a sudden (like Paul’s)

or a gradual (perhaps the

more normal?) experience,

but it is a definite assurance of salvation. This assurance

is God’s intention for every

believer (1 John 5:13) and

we are changed as we begin to walk in Jesus’ presence

(2 Corinthians 5:17). The

Spirit brings believers into

the presence of the Father

and we do not even need to grab God’s attention

(Ephesians 2:18).

St Augustine described the

Holy Spirit as the bond of

love and unity that exists

between Father and Son.

In August we held another Holiday Club working jointly alongside Christ Church (where this year it took place in their new hall!).

On average 25 children turned up each morning to have fun with the games and crafts and to learn something more of Jesus’ love and salvation.

The week was planned and co-ordinated by Andy Berry a gifted musician who has a passion for youth and children’s work.

The theme we followed was “Out of Darkness Cometh Light” - the motto of Wolverhampton. A lot of hard work went into this and I extend a BIG thank you to all the helpers (Catie, Jan, Jodie, Molly from our church especially) and to Andy for his enthusiasm and passion. Let’s see what next year brings!
