The Group(All have confessed to drinking some sort of coffee at some

point in their lives. Just thought I’d let you know.)

And just what does our device do?Just ask Jeremy.

• Our device was designed to make the best tasting coffee imaginable. We used a medley of everyday items, as well as coffee, water, and creamer, to construct a more complex means of making your coffee. Oh, and yes, we do make decaf! Leave that to Jeb.

Testing!!!!(This got a little messy, but thank goodness for paper

towels!!!)

Kelsey’s World of Energy Conversions(Prepare to be amazed)

• Center of mass: mass of sand and container = ?– Mass of coffee = (1/4 cup)(236.588237 cm^3/cup)(1 gram/cm^3)(1 kg/1000 g) = 0.059

kg– Distance from fulcrum (coffee) = 4.625 in = 0.117475 m– Distance from fulcrum (sand and container) = 6.5 in = .1651 m– Mass of sand and container =?– M (sand) * D (sand) = M (coffee) * D(coffee)

• .059*.117475 = .1651 * mass– Mass = 0.042 kg

• Conservation of Energy: Velocity of Seesaw when it hits the trigger = ?– Mgh(initial) = ½ mv(final)^2

• v = sqrt(2gh) – Final Velocity = 1.1162 m/s

• Force Placed on Mouse-Trap Trigger = ?– Mass of coffee = .059 kg– Initial velocity = 0 m/s– Final velocity = 1.1162 m/s– T = 1 sec– Acceleration = (Vf-Vi)/t– Acceleration = 1.1162 m/s^2– F = ma

• F = 1.1162*.059– F = .0659 Newtons

Jeb’s and Matt’s Conclusions(Really, they’re just telling you what we observed; you’ll have

to taste the coffee yourself)

• Matt says- We found that the cream in the grill was not even close as good as the cream we made ourselves!!

• Jeb says- The machine worked. I don’t like coffee though, so Matt got saddled with trying it.

Enjoy your coffee!!!
