Welcome to The EXCELlence Sale, our first production sale. Hard to believe we started this journey in 1986 with the purchase of 10 percentage females from Pembina Limousin. We

sold our first bulls in the spring of 1988 and spent the next summers attending numerous cattle shows. We also attended several sales and selected females from herds throughout Canada; in doing so, our herd has grown to 170 breeding females today which we raise on 720 acres of rich black soil. Now, 28 years later, we are confidently offering a strong group of females, which will perform and be profitable in any program.

We love the cattle industry and have such pride in our program and the Limousin breed. Excel is a family run operation and we are very proud of everyone’s involvement. Cody and Amy, along with their son Lincoln are a part of the day to day activities and farming operation. Trevor and his wife, Lauren live in Michigan where the use of internet has allowed him to provide input into bull selection. Kate lives in Airdrie and spent this past spring on the farm to assist with calving.

The cattle market is the best we have seen in our lifetime and now is a great time for beef producers to take advantage of the opportunity to purchase the quality genetics we are offering. These females are right from the heart of our program and represent our proven cow families. The sale cattle consist of many different bloodlines from industry leading AI sires, sires from other top programs, as well as our own Excel genetics. Bulls have been chosen based on specific EPD’s and by doing this, we produce polled cattle with strong maternal traits, performance, calving ease and docility. At last year’s National show at Farmfair, we were so proud to have had our genetics represented in more than half the show strings; proof that our genetics are already working for others in the industry.

X-treme is a four year old cow, but is the most common genetic combination we have in the herd. She is a Sniper daughter out of a Freedom dam and we want to let one of these females sell, as they really have plenty to offer and we are confident in the genetic package they possess. X-treme is big barreled, heavy muscled, and clean fronted.

AI bred April 12th to Zambuca, a sure to be head turner come next fall. Exposed to Excel Polled All North from May 10 to July 6, 2014. Preg checked 3.5 months on August 22.

Avocado is an actual twin to Abbalene, just black; what I said for her applies just the same to Avocado. They were always two peas in a pod, same birth weight and virtually the same weaning weights; it is truly unbelievable just how alike they are. Exposed to Stoneyview Zorton from April 14 to July 6, 2014. Observed bred May 13. Preg checked 75 days on August 22.

Abbalene is an Xtractor with muscle, length and lots of milking ability; a true Excel brood cow in the making. Between her and her twin, their mother weaned off more than 1300 pounds and she still was AI bred for an early February calf the next year. AI bred to the Jim Dandie bull on April 30th. Exposed to Stoneyview Zorton from May 5 to July 6, 2014. Preg checked 100 days on August 22.

182Y is a moderate framed female out of the John Wayne bull; she is clean lined and structurally sound. Her first two calves were very much the same in type and structure. Observed bred April 27 to Nordal Yard Stick. Exposed to Nordal Yard Stick from April 14 to May 14, 2014. Exposed to Hollee’s Avalanche from May 5th to July 6, 2014. Preg checked 3.5 months on August 22.

A large framed Westwood daughter with a perfect temperament, lots of volume and long spine. She is very easy fleshing with a gorgeous udder. This cow and Avalanche are very much alike and she is bred early so expect a show prospect. We expect the docility to carry through and this calf might just come born halter broke. Observed bred April 14 to Hollee’s Avalanche. Exposed to Hollee’s Avalanche from April 14 to July 6, 2014. Preg checked 4.5 months on August 22.

Xceptional is a four year old cow sired by the famous Revolver bull known for producing show prospects for many herds. Xceptional is structurally correct and moderate framed with plenty of muscle. She is bred to the Avalanche bull that we purchased out of Ontario where he was very successful in the show ring; he is long, smooth made and extremely docile. This genetic package Xceptional is carrying right now is exciting all on its own. Exposed to Hollee’s Avalanche from April 14 to July 6, 2014. Preg checked 50 days on August 22.

Violet’s genetic package is as exciting as they come. Violet’s dam, Vangie, is still working hard year in and year out and

never seems to miss. She is an impressive Mastermind daughter with perfect feet and udder and plenty of muscle shape. Violet’s sire, Wanderer, has produced some of our best milking females with lots of depth and length of spine. AI bred on April 14 to JYF Yieldmaster 80Y. Exposed to Excel Polled All North from May 5 to June 2, 2014. Preg checked 3.5 months on August 22.

This X Factor daughter is a powerful individual with balanced EPD’s and a balanced structure; expect her to

add some muscle shape, length of spine and very correct in her makeup. Observed bred on April 27 to Excel Polled All North. Exposed from April 14 to June 2, 2014. Preg checked 100 days on August 22.

Alaska is a really fun combination of genetics; a Uniform Power daughter on the bottom and Excel Polled Wanderer

on the top side. She will be a great milking, smooth made, deep sided female. AI bred on April 7 to JYF Yieldmaster 30Y. Exposed to Excel Polled All North from May 5 to June 2, 2014. Preg checked 4.5 months on August 22.

Black Treads has maybe the most exceptional set of EPD’s you could ask for and on top of that, she is out of a Freedom female and Xtractor. Becky is a combination of our last three heifer bulls with Zorton, Excel Polled Xpectation and Sniper. Not only that, wow did she ever grow up quickly and really pushed on the scale at weaning for being out a first calf heifer and all the calving ease genetics.. Another Zorton daughter with his typical muscle pattern, and impeccable style. His calves look good now but the way

they are advancing, they will be very special bred heifers come next year and even better looking cows; they are poised to very successful in the future, as well as now.

Belinda is a Zorton heifer born on March 31; like the rest of the Zorton females, she has that extra muscle shape, lots of depth and really looks to be a great brood female. Belinda’s dam is easily one of our more docile dams.

Brick Girl is truly built like a brick house power, length and style she is a complete package. And with a dam like she has, you know this young heifer will have a superior udder and come with a big square foot. She may be a little younger but this is the only red Yard Stick heifer. Have a good look, she is really special.

Take a look here. Plum Stick is very correct, with plenty of middle and good muscle shape in her hind quarter. Her sire is the heavy muscled moderate framed Yard Stick bull that we brought into our herd to add those two specific features and he has done a great job stamping his progeny with those characteristics.

This is a very powerful female. It is really difficult to find a March 7th heifer with this much performance. With her,

you have to appreciate the length of body, depth of rib ad muscle pattern. Exceptional EPD’s very hard to ask for EPD’s with any better balance. She has a full brother working at Wagner Livestock. Her dam Tranquilla is an elite female and maternal grand dam Raspberry is also an elite female. It is going to be very hard to find a female to sell this fall, with phenotype and genotype this good.

Yard Queen is an April born heifer calf out of our elite dam, Young Ultima, who is one of deepest sided, full

quartered, long spined females that we have. Even though she is young, we expect great things out of this black heifer calf.

This double black heifer is really clean fronted, long spined and has plenty of rear rib. Out of a first calf Wanderer daughter, she is a very powerful little calf to have just an 85 pound birth weight. Bice will be a good brood cow in the future with her balance and milk in her history.

The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable at par at the sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on buyers in attendance unless previous arrangements have been made. Every animal sells to the highest bidder and in cases of disputes, the auctioneer’s decision will be final. Announcements from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Current exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds.

Certificate of Registration Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Limousin Association. A certificate of registry duly

transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.

HealthAll animals in the sale have met all necessary health requirements. Cows and bred heifers have been

vaccinated with Vista 5 and Scour Bos 4. Heifer calves have been vaccinated with Vista Once & Vision 8. All animals have been vaccinated with Ivomec.

GuaranteeEach animal becomes the purchaser’s risk immediately after the animal is sold. All animals in this sale

will be sold under the terms and guarantees set forth by the Canadian Limousin Association with regards to health, freedom from defects and from both reproductive and specific genetic unsoundness.

Pregnancy Information All serviceable age females have been pregnancy examined by an accredited veterinarian, giving an

estimated length of gestation. This estimated gestation period shall be used only as a guideline to calving and is not a guarantee of actual service.
