When you think of the concept of revolution, what comes to mind? In what ways can you see the church’s mission as a revolution? (Matthew 23:11-12) Does Servanthood play into this idea and, if so, how? 2. Read Matthew 10:34 and discuss how God has placed a “sword” in your life. How do you handle persecution? Does Jesus’ statements about it help? (refer to John 15:18 & 20) 3. Have you ever been unfairly criticized because of your faith, and how did you deal with it? Have you ever been refused the opportunity to serve, and why? What would you tell new Christians about the ridicule that comes with our faith? 4. In 2 Corinthians 4:16 it speaks of a renewal that prevents us from losing heart. Where does this renewal come from and have you ever experienced it? What ideas do you have about how you, your small group, and your church could better serve others? What will you do personally to make these dreams come true? “Pray continually,” (I Thess. 5:17) for those we come in contact with—This is a time of year when many are lonely or hurting. We want to be intentional in showing Jesus to our community. Pray that connections are made through the Thanksgiving Outreach and the Community Christmas Party; for all to come to know and believe in Christ.

But Jesus called them to Himself and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great men exercise authority over them. It is not this way among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave; just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

~Matthew 20:25-28
