Flavor! From the great restaurants to the eccentric people to the music scene, flavor is one thing that Athens isnt lacking.

Over the past couple of years, while living in Athens, I’ve often heard of people making their “Athens Bucket List.” Many of the items on the list include eating at places like the Grit or the National. While other items include seeing every painted Bulldog around Athens.

I admire those who make these bucket lists. Why, you ask. Well, because those people are the ones who truly appreciate and admire the flavor of Athens.

No, I’m not saying that those of us who didn’t make bucket lists during their collegiate years under appreciate Athens. As a matter of fact, I wish I had made one while I was in college. And I suppose, there’s no time like the present.

My Athens Bucket List:

1. See a show at the 40 Watt.2. Have brunch at the Last Resort3. Try the Chocolate Soup at La Dolce Vita (and, I don’t even like chocolate!)4. Give the Grit another chance. 5. Ring the chapel bell on campus. 6. Make a picnic and have lunch on North campus.7. Take a picture with every Bulldog around Athens. 8. Take a cooking class from Earthfare.9. Go take salsa lessons at Little Kings.10. See the Tree that Owns Itself.

Without the flavor and uniqueness of Athens, my college career and life in Athens wouldn’t have been as fun and memorable. Maybe you too should make a bucket list or at least join me in accomplishing mine.
