The full 108 pages hand calculation of pi to 100 digits In the other file there are 14 pages one page scan unlike this has 12 pages per photo from a camera and not a scanner. The other file can be found at “engert.us/erwin/miscellaneous/Calculating pi by hand for 100 digits.pdf” you can see the detailed work on each page. The pictures in this file are not for reading just to show how full most pages were to do the calculations while some were only partly filled. The purpose behind this calculation was to guess how many pages it may have taken William Shanks for his work. This seems to be the fifth time this method has been used to calculate PI by hand and shown each step of the division which are found when the work is done with a computer because it is done in binary and not decimal and all the work is hidden only the sub term and terms can be seen. Since the terms are added and subtracted in sequence, the sum of positive and negative terms are never seen either in a computer work. The first time I saw them was when I did the hand calculation.

The pictures in this file are not for reading just to show how full most pages were to do the calculations while some were

only partly filled. The purpose behind this calculation was to guess how many pages it may have taken William Shanks

for his work.

This seems to be the fifth time this method has been used to calculate PI by hand and shown each step of the division

which are found when the work is done with a computer because it is done in binary and not decimal and all the work is

hidden only the sub term and terms can be seen. Since the terms are added and subtracted in sequence, the sum of

positive and negative terms are never seen either in a computer work. The first time I saw them was when I did the hand
