NORCO, CA 6/1/2011 – After his rookie year in the NFL, Minneapolis Viking running back and 2010 Heisman Trophy runner-up Toby Gerhart took time during the off season to open a performance training center in his hometown of Nocro, CA at Norco High School.

Using state-of-the art equipment and devices from Perform-X Training Systems, Toby’s Treadmills is running at full speed. With the help of Todd Gerhart, Toby’s father this small training center is providing performance workouts typically only offered by high-cost speciality training centers to young athletes in the community.

Toby’s Treadmills offers the same high-speed treadmill training Toby used throughout his high school and college career. The Tred-X 30/30 machines (so named because they can go 30 mph and incline up to 30 degrees), manufactured by Perform-X, allow athletes to push their bodies beyond normal capabilities to increase speed and strength safely. While high-speed training has been around for decades, it has not been easily accessible to the average athlete and is often cost-prohibitive for most young players.

Working with Norco High School, the Gerharts have developed a unique model for their training center. By utilizing the high school facility during down-times, Toby’s Treadmills is able to provide performance training to high numbers of high school athletes at a fraction of the cost most performance centers would charge.

That is the very business model Nick Reese of Perform-X Training Systems would like to see take hold across the nation. “This kind of training is so beneficial to athletes and can make a significant difference in their careers. Until now, it has only been available through expensive private trainers. We want to change that and make it available to everyone. Todd and Toby get it and they are doing a great thing for the kids in this town.” Gerhart trained on the first version of the Tred-X 30/30, the treadmills that now power Toby’s Treadmills.

In just a few months of being open, over 375 athletes have trained on the high-speed treadmills. Kids from nearby high schools are hearing the buzz and have come to train at the Gerharts’ facility as well. In addition to high-speed training, Toby’s Treadmills offers functional resistance training utilizing Perform-X’s other training devices in combination with traditional strength training methods, thereby offering a complete performance training package for athletes.

...Giving back in California

The folks at Norco (Calif.) High School are excited about their new weight room and the two state-of-the-art treadmills that sit in one corner.

The treadmills are officially called the Tred X 30-30 model. Unofficially, they’re called “Toby’s Treadmills” in honor of Norco grad and Vikings running back Toby Gerhart.

Gerhart became a Heisman Trophy candidate and second-round NFL draft pick while training on the high-speed treadmills. Now, he’s started a small business that uses the two treadmills in the Norco weight room to train athletes from 9 years old to the professional ranks.

“This treadmill can go up to 30 degrees incline and 30 miles per hour,” Gerhart said. “It’s all overspeed training, intense training. It first came out when I was in eighth grade. Kleinsasser was on the cover of the company’s magazine way back when.” ...

Perform-X Pushes the Pros

MINNEAPOLIS, MN 7/12/2010 — Performance trainers, Nick Reese and Kris Ringwal of Perform-X Training Systems, traveled to Minneapolis to train NFL rookies and veterans at Larry Fitzgerald’s summer training camp. Fitzgerald,

the starting reciever for the Arizona Cardinals, grew up in Minnesota and returned in the off season for training. Included in the group of 40 professional and college athletes was Bronco third-round draft-pick Eric Decker.

Last week, the two Colorado residents worked alongside former NFL stars Chris Carter and Michael Irvin to help a group of high school, college and professional athletes prepare for their upcoming team training camps. The camp will continue at the University of Minnesota until July 16.

Perform-X was invited to be a part of this year’s camp because of their unique training methods and products. The Colorado-born company has been training local college, high school and younger athletes for over five years.

Perform-X developed unique training methods using cord resistance and high-speed, high-elevation treadmills to build strength, speed and endurance. Training such as this is not just helpful for the elite athletes of the world. “This type of training can be used for the pros as well as recreational athletes and even in school P.E. classes. That’s the great thing about it, everyone can benefit,” Reese says. Perform-X is planning to expand their business beyond just performance training and provide their devices, equipment and methods to schools, clubs and therapy clinics across America.
