With great sadness, I have to report that

David (Max) Walker - 95th rifleman - died suddenly on Thursday 21 April.

Max has been a member of the 95th for over ten years, and loved the group. He had contributed as a committee member over much of his time in the 95th.

Max first learned of the 95th from listening to Bernard Cornwell audio books in his workshop. He was a keen amateur researcher of things 95th, and had a small but impressive collection of rifles-related antiques.

Max was the kindest of people. I will remember his generousity, sense of humour and smile. David Sadler President 2/95th Rifles (Australia)

Gabrielle and I would like to add that Max was a lovely man who always had a kind word and though only a member for around 9 months he always had a fond affection for the 73rd (as he had enquired for years about membership before taking the plunge last year) and he was well known with members of the 73rd at ANA events. He will be sadly missed and we will remember him fondly within the 73rd family.

Mark and Gabrielle Koens 73rd Regiment of Foot

A memorial has held for Max at the recent Ironfest at Lithgow. Glasses were raised to Max’s memory and a number of his friends spoke about him.

Max’s family has asked his friends to

donate to Beyond Blue, in Max’s memory. Vale David (Max) Walker The Editor.

Dinner at a quarter past 5. P.M. and broke up at a qr. before 10,O'Clock; having for the first time dined in the new Dining Room or Great Saloon. — Wedy. 5th. June This day the Ship Cumberland (Whaler) Capt. Swain anchored in the Harbour from England; having sailed from Portsmouth on the 31st. of Jany. in company with another Ship named the Cato bound for this Country. — I recd. no Public Dispatches from His Majesty's Ministers - and only two Private Letters - namely one from Genl. Sir Robt. Abercromby - and the other from Genl. James Balfour - two old and much esteemed Friends. — All was quiet in England, and sanguine hopes were still entertained of His Majesty's recovery from the mental illness with which he had been for some time past afflicted, and which was greatly increased by the death of his beloved Daughter the Princess Amelia who had died on the 2d. of November 1810 ! Sunday 16th. June The Ship Arabella Capt. Leigh sailed from Sydney Cove for Bengal. — By this opportunity Lieut. Lord of the Royal Marines went Passenger to return to England on Leave of absence by way of India. — I wrote an official Letter by him to the Earl of Liverpool Secry. of State (dated 12th.
