Exalted Rulers Message

This months highlights: Building expansion, Re-Creation, Fiscal responsibility, and the lodge. We are marching forward with the building expansion. I met with the Home association officers Sun April 10. They are well aware of our tax deadline, and they are hustling to get final plans and permits. I also realize that they are one group of our volunteers that give what they can. Here is the caution, they don't need the distractions of other little improvement suggestions. Please give when asked. Also the Home association doesn't need 30 bosses. It is their mission alone for the expansion. We will never have a perfect solution, but we will have a damn good one.

As part of our charitable nature we have sponsored the Re-creation Band as a tribute to veterans and first responders in the Findlay area. We will need some volunteers to assist. Tickets are also available at the bar, and a $10 donation is suggested at the door for elks members. Re-Creation is band dedicated to supporting veterans programs.

I mentioned last month that we are doing OK financially and much better than we were doing downtown. But being OK doesn't mean we can be reckless. So we have to be careful on our expenditures. That doesn't mean belt tightening, but we can't loosen our belts either.

I promised to explain the pieces of the lodge and this month it is the "The Lodge". Lodge meets every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month, with exception of July, August, and November (and sometimes December when Christmas falls on the same night). The lodge is the top authority locally. We are still responsible to and sometimes constrained by national. Any major decision has to be passed by lodge. So who makes up lodge. If you are a member, you are part of lodge. Lodge is also where most of the critical information is shared. One of my themes as ER is to foster more communication about how the lodge is used. And in the meetings everyone is entitled to voice their opinion, but no one is entitled to capitalize the meetings excepting the ER.

National is a source of charitable funding through many grants. Jim Kreiling, Besides being Pool Manager is also the grant chairman. He is working hard. Home Association Memo

Welcome to the inaugural Home Association Gaz-Elk memo. With the ongoing capital campaign

and new building coming up, the Home Association thought it would be a good time to add our

own section. For those who do not know me, I am Jason Reimschusel, your Home Association

secretary and treasurer for the past six years. I hope to complete another three-year term to help in

the process of seeing the new building through.

Recently, members of the Home Association, including Kevin Richardson, Tod Houk, Jason

Reimschusel, Eric Stacy, Paul Heilman, Brian Logsdon, and Vaun Wickerham, along with Jim

McMaster, PER, and Jim Kreiling, PER, helped to take out the old stages and floor in the dance

area of the banquet hall and install a new, durable floor that will last for many years to come. With

the effort of everyone listed above, the group helped save approximately $4,000 in labor for the

lodge versus the third-party estimate that was received. Pictures will be posted on the Findlay Elks Facebook page soon. The Lodge is only as

good as its volunteers, so please find a way to help, if possible.

As most know, the capital campaign for the new building is underway. If you have not received campaign materials yet in the mail, you

should soon, so be on the lookout. Any donation will help the betterment of the Lodge and have a lasting impact. The Findlay Elks website

has current, proposed building plans, if interested.

Please free to email me directly at [email protected] if you have any questions. If I am not able to answer, I will find the right person

who can.

Fraternally,

Jason Reimschusel

Summer will soon be here! If you want to get the weekly emails of what is coming up and what is

going on in our Lodge, or you know someone who wants to get the emails, please send me an email

to [email protected] so I can add you to the email list.

Your dues statement was mailed many weeks ago, please let me know if you haven’t received

yours. Please pay your dues promptly, as dues income is the single most important source of

revenue we have. The Lodge thanks you very much for supporting the great things we do in the

community. Dues are $128 for the full year and $64 for half of the Lodge year. Life members pay

$68 per year. You may write a check to BPOE 75 and mail it to PO Box 208 Findlay 45839-0208.

You may drop your dues off at the Lodge. I have a box in the lounge on the chest freezer. You can

visit www.findlaybpoe75.org and pay your dues and the other charitable things ONLINE! Of

course cash is good as always.

During the meeting of April 14th the applications of Daniel Worstein and Matthew Davis (both

proposed by Chuck Wilson) was read in the Lodge. The membership of Diane Hernandez was

approved. During the meeting of April 28thth the Lodge approved the membership of Daniel

Worstein and Matthew Davis. The following were regularly initiated, Daniel Worstein, Matthew

Davis, Phil Roeder and Diane Hernandez. Being an Elk has made a positive contribution to your

life. Now it is time to pay it forward and help out someone else improve their life by becoming an

Elk.

We remember our absent members who passed away during this Lodge year. There haven’t been

any yet this year but I suspect that won’t last. Their faults lie upon the sand but their virtues are

written on the tablets of love and memory.

It pays to come to Lodge! On April 14th Fred Rosebrook was a loser of $40 because he was not at

Lodge. On the meeting on the 24th Mike Smith was a loser of $45 because he was not in Lodge.

Come to Lodge so you can win. The Lodge meetings in May are on the 12th and the 26th.

See you at the Lodge

Jeff Jenson PER

Lodge Secretary
