Astfel, Sinodul I ecumenic
praznic luminat! Hristos a înviat!

The Pascha of the Christians
The Holy Pascha is the most important Christian event of
the liturgical year. It is all about the most essential aspect
of our faith: The Resurrection from the dead. Without this,
says Saint Paul, our preaching and faith would be in vain
(I Cor. 15,14). Experiencing again the Passion and Resur-
rection of Christ gives spiritual life to any faithful person
and it fills us with holiness and hope in eternal life, that
are God’s gift to us.
The word Pascha comes from the Hebrew word Pesah
that means passing. The ancient Hebrews were com-
memorating every year their liberation from the Egyptian
captivity and the wondrous passage through the Red Sea,
under Moses. The Christians in turn, re-live in their Pas-
cha the Passion of Christ, Crucifixion and Resurrection.
Thus, for the Christians, Pascha represents the passing of
Christ and ours, from death to life.
The Jews consume the Paschal Lamb remembering their
journey to the Promised Land. For the Christians, Christ
Himself becomes the Lamb of sacrifice who gave Himself
on the Cross for our sins. In this sense, Christians regard
Christ as the true Pascha, that carries us from death to life.
Because the Mystical Supper of the Lord and His 12
Apostles took place on Thursday before the Jewish Pass-
over and the Resurrection of Christ on the first day of the
week that followed it, the celebration of the Christian Pas-
cha always follows the first. The 1st Ecumenical Council
(325 AD) established that Holy Pascha is to be observed
on the first Sunday with fool moon, after the vernal equi-
nox. In the East, it remained unchanged. In the West, in
1582, there was a change of the calendar. Since 1977,
there are ecumenical discussion toward a unified date.
Orthodox Christians get ready for the feast with prayer,
fasting, alms, confession of sins and receiving the mysti-
cal Body and Blood of Christ. We pray to the Lord to
grant each of you a bright feast! Christ Is Risen!

A Note from Father Remus Grama
Receive the Body of Christ!
A few more weeks and Holy Pascha is here! It is Great
Lent and it is high time for all our spiritual children to get
ready to enter the Holy week and the great feast of
Resurrection of Christ. I urge all of you to come to
confession and receive absolution from the Priest. To
maintain our membership in Faith we must come
together in the Holy Eucharist. Please, do not postpone
your coming. My hope is that by Palm Sunday, all our
members will have been renewed in the Lord by
receiving the Holy Sacrament of Eucharist!
primind Sfînta Taină a Cuminecării.
Bring the Children!
a primi Sf. Eucharistie.
parohiei.
Let Us Honor the Donors!
Every now and then someone makes a larger donation. This is a gift of God who moves our hearts to do so. We give in imitation of God Who gave us His Son. We give in imitation of Christ, Who gave us His life on the Cross. Today, we thank ALL our members and future members for their generosity in supporting our church! In as much as our donations help our entire community, on behalf of all members of the church we thank our donors, supporters and those who find it in their heart to be supporting members of the parish.

ST. MARY CATHEDRAL’S BELLS
Dear and beloved,
Did you know that our church
has no real bells? Calling to
prayer is done through a mag-
netic, electrical system that is
outdated and started not to func-
tion properly. We are in need of
a bell at the church. Since 1907,
our church has not called for
bells. Our faithful will know that church bells accompany
us to all major personal and community events. That is
why we would like to call for a bell fund.
This year, we will celebrate 115 years since the founda-
tion of our parish. We would like to install one or more
bells. We do not doubt that there will be one or more do-
nors to help us with a donation of $ 10,000 or more. If
there are more, we'll buy a bell or two. A specialized com-
pany from Romania can help us install a bronze bell,
given in Orthodox tones and executed according to the
tradition of our ancestral Church. Such bell has been al-
ready donated at the Episcopate. We hope that in our Ca-
thedral we will be able to hear the call to prayer in the
voice and tone that any Orthodox soul reverberates.
In the 4th century, Saint Paulin de Nola, who was the
friend of our Saint, the Daco-Roman, Nichita of Remesi-
ana, had a vision in which he saw heaven, hearing a pleas-
ant sound of bells in a field of daffodils. Waking up or-
dered bells for his church, of course, in the form of a
flower (daffodils). Since then, we know that "the bells call
the alive, cry for the dead, scatter the storms."
Like the apostolic proclamation, bells proclaim men and
confess God. They encourage us to hard time and gather
us in prayer in all the circumstances of life. After the
blessings they bring, every family should hurry to support
this project, which we do not want to distract you from
other parish projects and needs.
Those who respond to this call will have the affliction be
eternally mentioned among the founders of the church.
Donations: payable to the “Cathedral of St. Mary.”
Memo: "For Church Bells".
God rewards those who love Him in Grace.
Yours in Christ,
Father Remus Grama
