It is not CAS if:It’s

already part of a

DP subject

Money is received

There is no supervisor

input

It’s a family duty

Actively promotes a religion

Focus is on hour counting

It’s a simple , repetitive

task

Only involves

fundraising

Page 20: The Heart of the IB. NOTE! CAS & our Mission Statement

Fundraising only is not CAS!

"give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he will eat for a

lifetime"

Page 21: The Heart of the IB. NOTE! CAS & our Mission Statement

REFLECTIdentify

achievements & outstanding issues,

strengths & weaknesses

Evaluate action synthesize new understandings

CAS Report

‘More and more, a good performance in CAS is becoming a vital part of university admissions…’

‘In the US and UK, it can actually enhance or damage the student’s chances because it makes the difference between merely an excellent student & an excellent student with evidence of a well-rounded personality, international-mindedness and concern for others…’

Page 36: The Heart of the IB. NOTE! CAS & our Mission Statement

CAS Report

Many schools ask coordinators to provide a full CAS report for each student at the time of predicted grades submission or university (UCAS in particular!)

All or some of it then becomes part of the application process…
