“THE HUM”

Edition 17- 2010/ 2011– Ki-Lines

Well, how did you all survive the big wet? Wendi & I sprung a few

leaks, but still stayed afloat.

Unfortunately the Redgrave‟s did cop water through their home.

They report that all is OK now, although they are in the middle of

replacing their floor coverings. As quoted by Ray & Faye, “compared

to Japan, this is nothing”. It makes you proud to be a Lion. When

Ray put out a call for help, four Lions fronted up on the Tuesday to

help remove the damaged carpets etc. Well done guys & gals!

The Kiama Markets issue has been „put to rest‟ at this time. Friday

last, before the Tender close time, we placed a letter in the Tender

Box informing Council of our wish not to Tender. Thank you to all

involved in the process. This was a subject that needed to be fully

aired through discussion, with all who wanted to have an input having the opportunity, even if

some statements were duplicated at times. I am pleased to say that what could have been a

very divisive issue within the Club has been resolved in an extremely democratic way.

This past fortnight has been relatively quiet and in some ways I‟m thankful for that, but it then

gives me nothing to write about

We do have a couple of items coming up. Some are mentioned later in this Bully. Most

importantly is the roster for the Driver Reviver. I like to think that our involvement in this is

saving lives, just by simply providing an „on the road‟ break, with a cuppa & a chat.

I have just received an email from Jim Webb as follows (partly):

“Hi Jim Just thought I would pass on my sad news to you... and maybe you can mention it in the KiLines... my father passed away yesterday evening. Graeme Henderson.” Graeme's address is Bridle Track Rd, Markwood Vic (the end of), mobile 0429324509, email: [email protected] if you would like to send a card or contact Graeme & Lynne. I look forward to seeing you all at this weeks‟ meeting. Local identity Col Rathbone, from the Kiama Sports Council, is our guest speaker. We also have our annual elections, our proposed Board for next year follows next page. You know, as soon as I put this to print, I will remember something that needed to be shoved in, anyhow, until Thursday.....bye.

EDITOR’S NOTE:

Hi Lions Members,

Health has introduced an email archiving system called

Mimosa Archive. It saves all emails that come through the

email system. As such as an employee I am bound by policy as to the use of my

email.

With this in mind, I feel that I

would prefer that all Lions email direct their emails to my home email below. I

strongly suggest that your communication subject RE:

“For “Ki-Lines” so not to deleted at home by John.

It would be greatly

appreciated if you could use this form of communication in

the future.

With email: Directly to my home email:

[email protected]

Without email: Leave a message on my home phone answer service

on 42 378538 or my mobile no 0428799155.

These are the ONLY 2 options that will be accepted for inclusion into the Ki-lines in

the future.

The Kiama Cup is on again on the 16th April at Kembla

Kiama Leagues Club Ringway Wollongong Day Surgery Associated Gaskets Sebel Harbourside Kiama As in past years a function will be held in the Bert Lillye Lounge for 400 patrons at $75 per person. This includes entry to the course and racebook, smorgasbord luncheon, afternoon tea and dessert and three drink tickets. All are encouraged to dress up as there are prizes in the fashions of the field for both men and women.

It would we wonderful for as many Lions as possible to join in the fun of the day. Lions David Wright, Dave Jones, Ray Redgrave and Tony GraInger are forming tables and would be delighted to have you join their tables and welcome any friends you may wish to invite. A raffle will be conducted with lots of prizes including a Bridge Walk for 2 including accommodation at a city Sebel Hotel, a weekend package at Bellachara and at Spring Creek Resort. Rob Gray will be running the raffle and would like as many Lions as possible that are not attending the races to help him at Kembla on the day from 11 to 2 selling the tickets at the gate.
