The ILO is the integrated lights out component on the server. This is a card which is integrated to the
board which allows you to connect to the server remotely and even if Windows or Linux doesnt work.
The ILO has its own IP address, this is the address that we use to connect to the ILO. The ILO has its
own username and password for security.
To do this youll need an internet browser like Internet Explorer or Firefox. You enter the address as the
IP address youve got for the ILO, so lets say http://10.1.100.9 or if its got a name in dns,
http://exchangeilo. The browser needs Java to do this, a security message will appear which you can say
yes to, the youll have to log in.

First, connect the ILO designated network port to your switch or management network.
Most brand new HP servers come with an information tag attached. Printed on the tag is the server
serial number and Integrated Lights Out access information including factory set username andpassword.

The easiest way to access the ILO configuration utility is during the POST by pressing F8 when prompted.
Select Enter while the Set Defaults option is highlighted to revert back to factory settings.
First, access the Network menu, disable DHCP and change the DNS name
Then configure your static ip settings
Next, set the Administrator password or create new user.

Note that the username and password are both case sensitive. Select Exit to save and reset ILO with the
new settings. Test access to the ILO web interface.
HP also provides a utility called HPONCFG which allows for command line interaction with ILO and
scripting functionality.

If you have HP Proliant G2, G3 or G4 series servers, then you are using the first version of iLO on your
Server.
If you look at the rear panel of your server, you will find a port named as iLO, Management or Mgmt.
All HP Proliant servers are shipped with Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) enabled and all these servers will
have an attached iLO tag.

Why the iLO tag is important? the iLO tag will have the User name and password of your iLO. When you
perform the initial configuration of iLO and if you are prompted to enter user name and password, you
may use the login information available on this iLO tag.
How to configure iLO (Integrated Lights-Out) of your Server.
Here, we are going to disable DHCP and will assign a static IP for the iLO. Once we set a static IP, you
have to reboot the server for the changes to take effect.
1. Turn ON the Server, press F8 key at the Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) prompt.

2. If prompted to Enter user name and Password, use the information you found on iLO tag.3. Once you login, you will be at below screen. This is the iLO RBSU screen.
4. From iLO RBSU, go to Network and select DNS/DHCP option from there.

5. Press Space bar and disable the DHCP as we are going to set a static IP for iLO.
6. Now under Network menu, select NIC and TCP/IP settings.

8. To Save the settings, please press F10 key.9. Go to File menu and select Exit to close the iLO Configuration window.
