You will be required to construct a model of a plant OR animal cell. You may choose to make an edible cell but
your project does not need to be edible and can be made from everyday objects. If you choose to make yours of
edible materials, it must remain fresh without refrigeration.

Name on the project. (1 Point)
Cell type identified. (either a plant or animal cell) (1 Point)
All organelles and their functions are included and correctly labeled (10 for
plants cells, 9 for animal cells) See example above. Label each organelle or
use a key. (20 Points)
Relationships and placements of cell parts shown correctly. For example: If
this is a plant cell, are the chloroplasts around the vacuole? (10 Points)
Project is under 30cm on any side (1 Point)
Clear and easy to read. Quality work. (5 Points)
Material Suggestions• pieces each of round and square bread (cell)• honey (cytoplasm)• Marshmallows (vacuoles) – 1 large white for
plant, 5 small yellow for animal• Straight Pretzels (cell wall)• Wrapped Hard Candies (nucleus) • jelly beans (mitochondria)• green Marshmallows (chloroplasts)• Twizzlers (Endoplasmic Reticulum)• Smarties (Golgi Bodies)• Gum Drops (Lysosomes)• jar of Sprinkles (Ribosomes)• aluminum foil (cell membrane)
