Who we are…
The Institute of Management Consultancy is the single largest professional body in the UK, representing over 4,300 management consultants as well as consulting firms, training providers, users of consultancy and intermediary agencies.
Founded in 1962, the Institute aims to promote excellence, actively pursuing the interests of the profession through negotiations with the government, the European Commission and major clients in the UK and overseas.

Types of Membership …
• Affiliate - for those who do not practise but are interested in management consultancy issues.
• Associate requires either one year’s consulting experience, five years working as a manager in a technical or professional specialism, possessing a Masters qualification, or working for an Institute Certified Practice.
• Certified Management Consultant (CMC®) - once you have become an Associate, you can work towards achieving the qualification of CMC®. This a portable competence-based qualification recognised in over 35 countries.

• To become a Certified Practice a management consultancy must demonstrate high quality training and professional development for its consultants. It does this through a process of review and audit with the Institute.
• Having achieved Certified Practice status, the consultancy is empowered to assess and recommend its consulting staff for the Certified Management Consultant (CMC®) qualification by virtue of progress through their in-house training and development structures.
